How long until I can tell that my root-rotted African Violet is OK?

Hi,

I overwatered my African Violet, original post is here:

http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/3893823/overwatered-african-violet-how-to-re-root

How long will it take for me to know if the violet is doing OK? Will it perk up at all? Mine still looks like the pictures in the original post...I'm worried that I may not have taken off enough of the bad leaves or not cut off enough of the rotted stem (it looked healthy but I don't know how much of a margin I need to have when cutting off a rotted stem...). Will this plant never look good again and I have to wait a month or two until it starts producing new leaves and new roots, or is there a way to tell if it's working?

I have it in a ceramic pot inside a plastic ziplock bag, I watered it lightly when I first put it in the pot and bag and haven't watered it since then, the soil felt moist today.

Thanks!
