Bring them in now!!!! Way too cold for tomatoes. Tell your honey you will clean up the mess!

Between the cold and the wind they don't stand much chance. I don't put my tomatoes outside unless it's above 50 degrees at night. I used to live in the suburbs of Philly. Isn't your last frost date today?

According to my own experience, 37F of overnite low is not going to do any harm to tomato plants. After I panted out mine (on 4/5/16) there had been half a dozen nights with low in 37- 41F range. I would've taken action it it got down to low 30's.

But to be further assured, covering them with some old bed sheets on the deck will do.

I kind of convinced the old lady to bring both in just for precautionary standards but may bring only one in to see how it fares with the one left outside. I predicted to have the first ripe tomato around June 15th ish or a bit later

then plant the other seedlings in about another week, there still hardening off, it is so fun doing experiments :)

Last frost date for Philadelphia in in the second week of April. Which was true this year as well. We've had plenty of cold nights, but no actual frost since early April.

I'm with Sey on this one. Not that I would make it a habit to plant out in those kinds of temps, but 37 degrees will not harm the plants. At least nothing significant. You may have some fruit that ends up catfaced, but oh well. I have had plants see temps that low and even lower for two or three days with no damage.

Just pay attention during the upcoming Fall as to how the plants react to these low temps before the big frost comes. They will keep growing until the big one hits them.

Thanks all again, I brought one big plant in and left the other one under the deck protected from wind for the early girls. (Both made it) The Summergirls were tiny seedlings barely hardened off, I planted them in those big pots because they started to get really leggy so burried them deep in those pots and covered them with kind of a milk jug container with a 2 inch hole and left them out in about 36-37 night before was around 40 with out any covering. But as far as I know, no damage at all to all of them.

As far as the frost dates, I think it is April 30th here, at least Burpee said so since they are only 10 min away from me and shipped them early May. Usualy I plant around the 10th and these were May 7th I believe for the Early Girls and the summer girls about 5 days prior to those temps.

The rest I will plant out within the week after I get more potting mix. I just didnt want to take too much of a gamble knowing that the temps could drop reading the 10 day forcast. I think one advantage of those fabric bags is that they don't get the dewpoint?
