Can Anyone help ID this plant
Comments (15)Agreed with micke: you should complain to the store and see what they do (and if it helps, you can always point out that you have access to an international online houseplant forum and you can make sure they never sell another plant again ;^). But even if they're not what you wanted, they *are* nice-looking plants, and durable: I've had a 'Sensation' for about three and a half years and it has been almost frighteningly accommodating, though it hasn't flowered for me in a very long time....See MoreCan anyone help ID my succulent?
Comments (12)Gill, hope you don't mind (it is actually cute & funny) = but I am sure you meant 'rootball' in your previous post... Travis Glass bowls are not good for succulent (actually, not good for majority of plants) because they don't have drainage hole. Your plant wants to grow, but it needs different pot, well draining potting mix and lots of light. It will be a nice plant if you can supply those asap....See MoreMy poor plant has shriveled up/ID?
Comments (6)Does it feel like as firmly rooted? You may be in a situation where it was watered so much that the roots rotted, and now it doesn't have many left to take up water. That could explain why you haven't been able to get it to dry out. Leaves curling like this usually means that the plant is stressed, either water stress heat stress or too much sun. This plant is trying to protect itself from something. I think that your best course of action is to choose which conditions you wanted to grow it in and try to maintain those conditions for a few weeks comma and see what it looks like after that. But I would definitely start with a repot, coconut coir is not great for succulents as you mentioned, and while you're in there check out the roots....See MoreCan anyone help me with another plant ID?
Comments (5)Thank you, Annie, for that link! The shoots in their bottom photo look EXACTLY like these things when they sprouted up. Would you believe that since I posted this, the 3"-5" shoots are now 15-17" tall? No blooms of any kind yet though. But I vaguely recall planting a little 4" pot of balloon flowers (that later died off in our heat and the shady spot they were in) that was situated some 10' away from where these have cropped up, so maybe seeds off those were blown to this new location. I'm leaving it where it is for now and just enjoying it bolt higher and higher. :) @Roselee, I've never had any Blue Porter planted in my yard. But I have had some surprises sprout up that the master gardener that lived here before me might have had planted. It does look similar, but I think the balloon flower Annie mentioned is exactly what I've got, and I KNOW I had some of those situated nearby this spot last year....See Morecactusmcharris, interior BC Z4/5
