More blooms now, It seems nicer when you have a few blooms.

Fernstone's last blooms for this season:

Purple Mask has started blooming:

Marseilles Watercolor:

Betty Ford:

Patricia Snider Memorial:

And Indigo Edge:

Bill Watson and Spacecoast Eye for Passion also continue to bloom. I should have a photo of Winner's Trophy next also.

Every year I post a photo of the New Dawn climbing rose, so here it is:

And for reference, the 5'5" gardener with the bush:

AS you can see some pruning is in order....not sure I am up to it because the thorns on this one are really mean. But it is such a beauty! It has taking over a fourth of the 16'X16' iris bed. It has engulfed two tea roses and a white rose bush. DH is complains that it is impossible to mow the grass under the back side. But it is gorgeous, so we leave it be,

I'm just starting to get daylily bloom. Glad you are enjoying the gardens. What a rose! Pretty!

Donna...yes and Rosalie. The photo doesn't do justice to what a mess she is....the first scape is 6" and the second is just 2 so far. There are 2 disfigured blooms trying to open in the middle of the 4 that are open...they are far from what I expected. I did just now go put my nose into the bouquet...ahhhhh....sweetness! ;-) K

ngraham, That is a lovely one. The problem is, we want them to bloom all year (same thing for our iris). Rebloom is wonderful and takes a little of the sting out. Same boat. So of course, I'm cruising daylily sites and enjoying everyone's pictures. Getting my fix that way. kay

Here's a few more that were open this morning: another blossom of Soleil d'Or Its parent Persian Yellow, which was rather hard to photograph--the petals kept reflecting too much light. another of Persian Yellow's decendents, Harrison's Yellow. Looks quite similar doesn't it? Actually Persian Yellow's blooms are a bit larger. Stanwell Perpetual is very chlorotic this year, so much so that its blooms are white instead of pink. Its actually going to a new home later today, hopefully it will be happier there. Reine des violettes is not looking so violet--I guess is got too hot too quickly to see the really purple blooms it had last autumn. and one more blossom from the Rosa santa Richards not Andrews band befoe I remove it and the rest of the buds and give it a chance to grow. This blossom shows off a bit more of its pink tint than the last post did. I had a few more blooms, but the one of my very favorite rose, Geranium Red, was looking rather battered and I refuse to photograph him looking less than his best. But oh, the fragrance!! Speaking of which, I've always heard Persian Yellow and Harison's Yellow had very bad fragrances, but I found them mild and pleasant.

Thanks, Debra. I was very pleased to see it bloom so nicely as a brand new one. We had the unrelenting rain earlier, and I didn't think i would ever get any weeding done. I still have a few spots to do, but I'm working on the baby's room right now. thanks Sarah, I have such a nice selection because I have no discipline in buying them...actually, Mantis, I think Intelligent Design is more Purple because it has been a lot cooler than usual with the frequent rains...It will lighten up, never fear...the heat is coming...it always does. Thanks, Jean and Ruth. I had a lot more new ones blooming today and will post later in the week again. kay

The edge on Indigo Edge is very precisely stitched. I believe it's Purple Maze. Betty Ford performed very well here last year.

Today was my first "real" daylily bloom from Little Rosy cloud. I only saw scapes on it last week, funny how it usually isn't the ones that scape first that bloom. This is the very earliest I have ever seen this one bloom, I think last year it was May 25.

I'm sad to see the last photo of Fernstone, will it not rebloom? Marseilles Watercolor & Purple Mask are really pretty, I like the patterned ones like that. And Indigo Edge is so crisp looking. I had to look really hard to see what was holding New Dawn up, that is one impressive rose.

Nancy, Fernstone doesn't usually rebloom. You are right. other than Fernstone is very reliable to bloom early, I had no idea Betty Ford was ready to bloom. We are going to have to re-inforce the support for that rose. I need to dead head it, but the mocking bird who nests there has a fit when I do...My happen anyway. It is nice to see your first bloom, isn't it, even though it is very early this year.

Wow, that is a big rose bush Kay. Beautiful but I can see it would be a task to trim it back. Betty Ford always appears to bloom perfectly for everyone. Nice red color too.

Julia, it would be more possible if she were less thorny, and the the thorns weren't so mean. It will grab a sleeve (if you are lucky, not the arm) and it is very hard to untangle it. It is so beautiful, I have to put up with the issues too. Betty Ford is a favorite. Of course she is, she is red and I do love the red ones.
