How much space between wall ovens and fridge?
Comments (6)gizmonike and rhome410 Thank you both very much for your valuable insights. A picture (or two) is worth more than 1000 words in this case. What a gorgeous setup. Thanks also for the advice about the handles. With kids, I can just imagine the dents! Adults are always perfect, right?? I also appreciate the list of tips, some of which I have also gleaned from this wonderful site, including the big single sink and induction. Now I also have the pegboard idea from your photos. I'm going right out to buy some blue tape, and I'll look up a thread here on Batch garbage disposals. If I get smart, I may even post some progress photos....See MoreBosch Unveling Side-Swing Wall Ovens in the Spring!
Comments (33)I signed up for gardenweb so I could post to say thanks to you both, TSmith and Juno_barks for your comments on the Bosch side swing ovens. My husband and I are in the process of selecting appliances for a custom home kitchen and the timing of your postings is perfect. I am a big fan of swing ovens for function but Gaggenau has been out of my price range. That Bosch (I'm a long time fan and user of Bosch dishwashers) is making them now is great and we are planning to use side swiing wall ovens in this house. There aren't many customer reviews for them on line given they are so new, so your posts are great to see. Thanks for taking the time to post them! For anyone considering side swing v drop down, it is so much easier to get things into and out of a side swing oven. Light years easier as we age. I hope Bosch has good sales of these so they'll continue making them. That Siemens owns Bosch and Gaggenau both (and Thermador is in the mix now too) suggests they saw a market at the more approachable price point that Bosch provides....See Morewall oven next to fridge?
Comments (15)susanpn, the wall color in our kitchen is SW Wheat Grass. I would say it's more celery than lime, but in life it's not really celery color. On the small paint chip you see at the store it doesn't look quite as green as it shows when it's on the walls and there's a lot of it for light to bounce off of. I love the color. It's the only color I'm re-using from our current house. Green's my favorite color and this one is quite livable for such a large space. The adjacent family/great room is 2-stories and will also be the same color as there's no good place to break colors and I actually want that space to feel like one. The kitchen it about 20' by 21' and the great room portion is 18' by 21'. I would have made the great room a little bigger and the kitchen a little smaller, but ceiling line dictated where each of the spaces stopped/started. I think the wetbar area with will serve both the kitchen and great room with tie the two together. Here's not the greatest shot of how the rooms flow. Sorry, even though I rotated the picture in Photobucket and saved it that way, it continues to post sideways. I think the above two posts with the pictures of oven/fridge combos at the end of a bank of cabinets are really, really great. I love the open cabinets that redroze has - very nice. In both of these kitchen the cooktop is in a different location which would have eleviated my concern of feeling closed in at the cooktop. Again, this may not be a concern for you - you may actually like that feel better so please know that I don't think there's any right or wrong here. I'll try to check back later to see if you were able to post your layout....See MoreAre side swing ovens possible if sandwiched between wall and fridge?
Comments (40)Thank you Colleen (AKA. ANGEL IN DISGUISE)!!! Thank you for all the photos and the incredibly helpful info!! On Mother's Day of all days, when you should be relaxing and basking in the servanthood of your four children, you're sitting there typing away, helping a stranger out. Cpartist, and everyone else too, seriously you all have restored my faith in humanity : ). Sorry to be so dramatic but I truly appreciate you guys. Colleen, is the reason you didn't want the flush install of your ovens so that that your ovens doors would be able open all the way? Is there any other reason NOT to do a flush install? My wall is going to just out way more than yours so unfortunately can't do the right swing, and I'm seeing now that the left swing would not be a good idea either. How would you feel about a traditional pull-down double oven in your current oven location????? The counter behind my ovens will be a little over 4 ft away, so there should be some wiggle room to pull down the door and maneuver to the landing space? Also thank for the feedback on the Karbon! I agree, the aesthetics are pretty unique. Our kitchen will lean toward the modern side so it would fit in perfectly. I will have a tapmaster as well so hoping it will work well for my prep sink. Hope you're enjoying your tapmaster today! What a great Mother's day gift : ). Kim Ladin, I'm going to think seriously about that tall cabinet to make the right swing work. It would mean decreasing the cabinet length in the undercounter fridge run or decreasing the double pantry. I hope you find a good solution to your dilemma as well!...See Morepoppy214
