My cat who poops on my rug and throws up
Comments (5)Yes, your kitty could be allergic to something in the food. Here's another thought. Does he eat dry food? If he does, it's possible he's gobbling the food down too quickly and that could be causing the vomiting. I know that doesn't necessarily explain the poop, but try feeding him only a little bit of food at a time. Like give a small portion and then wait 20 mins. Then give him a little bit more etc. That might help with the vomiting. If he gets wet food you could try it that way too. Just give a little bit at a time. As for the poop in the wrong place. As cats age sometimes they get forgetful - just like humans. My previous cat had this problem. He went in the wrong places, but once we moved the box it almost stopped. I say almost b/c sometimes he had accidents, but it was definitely a lot less. I would try putting out more than one box. Keep one in the usual place and another in the bedroom where he does inappropriate poop. I hope this helps!...See MoreMy cat peed on my carpet!
Comments (6)Only recently have I become interested in having a pet. I am disabled and many have suggested I get a pet, either a cat and/or dog to keep me company. I just wanted to say that Elly is right based on the little I know. A friend had a cat pee in her plant, which was unusual, after a visit to the vet she learned her beloved indoor cat had a kidney disease that had advanced beyond medical help. Heartbroken, that she hadn't noticed in time, her cat Muffin, only 6 yrs old had to be put down. The vet explained to her that cats hide their illnesses very well. This wasn't much comfort to her. Please get your cat to a vet asap to rule out a problem. Can't offer any help on the pee stain but I'm sure others here have good advice. Good luck....See Moremy cat peed on my bed
Comments (15)abcmom -- my male cat is very high-strung and neurotic as well. The clomicalm that he's on basically calms him down, and makes him much more low-key and less likely to freak out, get scared or anxious, or pee all over the place. My male's peeing (I'm pretty sure) is a combination of behavioral issues, and territorial issues -- sometimes I think he does it just because, and other times he does it when he sees a cat outside or when our other cat really pushes his buttons. Ever since I've put him on the clomicalm, the number of incidents have reduced dramatically, as has his overall "freakiness". It does make him a lot sleepier, so you do have to accept a certain behavior change when you put your cat on a medication like this -- if you're used to your cat crawling all over you and your furniture all the time, that's probably not going to happen anymore. I try to give him his meds in the evening, so that he's more lively during the day. I vastly prefer having a sleepy cat to having one that pees on my bed, so I'm willing to accept the behavior change. He's been prescribed 1/8 of a pill a day, and they come in a bottle of 30 (that I order online with an Rx from my vet). Chopping them up is a pain, but you can get a special cutter from the vet. A bottle of 30 is pretty cheap -- it's been a while since I bought a bottle (it lasts a long time!), but I think it was something like $35 or $50 -- that should last you around 6-8 months or so. I highly recommend ordering online, as it's much cheaper than going through the vet (or so I've found). The one tough thing is that our boy has figured out what pill time means -- if I open the cupboard where the pills are kept, he scampers and hides (I think they taste pretty bad), so I've had to get sneakier and sneakier about giving it to him. Usually if I sneak up on him while he's eating, I can pop it in his mouth with him barely noticing. I highly recommend at least trying medication like Clomicalm or Prozac for situations like improper elimination (once medical reasons are ruled out), because really, what have you got to lose? Try it for a couple of months, and if it doesn't work, then oh well. And there's always the possibility that it might actually work....See MoreCont. Peed on Rug... how about this rug?
Comments (51)The walls are so dark and the furniture so neutral that I would buy something light like the very first rug you posted, but not something that looks faded because that room needs to be brought to life. Curtains of course would help although I wonder if those would also be neutral. With a rug that has defined colors you could have throw pillows in beautiful tones that harmonize with the rug and the room would look very different. A rug that has blue tones but also rust or reddish tones would warm the space nicely and give it some drama. Art work will also make a great difference. Looking at your living room again, which I think has great lines and potential, I would also suggest a lamp that has a much more colorful base, although the shape is fine. I wonder if you could paint it. Everyone here seems to paint things at the drop of a hat. I'll be curious to see what you end up doing....See Moreamykath
