Comments (5)Oh, and I hope you don't mind my dirty floor. lol I am also doing something else in our living room; I'm in the process (just starting actually) of doing the pieces of wood for the butterfly frame I have also talked about that will have containers of milkweed sitting in it that the cats will be eating. I think I'll sit that out on our front porch because I think the frame is going to be much bigger than I had envisioned, and I'm not sure where else to go with it. Even for just something "quick" like this, it gets into more than just a couple of dollars, of course. Till all is said and done, I will have close to $100 into it. Just the screen alone is going to be $50. I have to buy two rolls of 5' fiberglass screen. I have all of the 2x2's I need for it but will still need some galvanized screws, a dozen hook and eyes, and some paint. Previously, I hadn't even thought about the likelihood of a wasp getting through just one layer of screen to the cats inside. Then when it was mentioned on here that it would happen, that was enough to convince me to put two layers of screen on the 2x2's. It's way too cold outside to be putting it together out there and I'm anxious to show it when I get the frame all together (it won't have the screen on until this spring or summer after I paint it). I hadn't been planning on painting it, but I didn't get the treated lumber and I have to try to preserve it somehow, so I guess I'll have to paint it...or maybe urethane (haven't decided yet for sure). I'll try to get the frame done (without the screen and paint, that is) by next week sometime. I'll explain more then. Stay tuned. :-)...See MoreAS requested, more pictures
Comments (24)Wow,thanks guys,i hadn't been back to this post for a few days. Greg, that silver grey with red flowers is a tillandsia. Aztcqn,I'm not sure which plant you're speaking of.I like using busted pots, use them more in the cottage gardens than the cacti and succulent.Sure we can trade sometime. Annette, thanks, nice to see you around here again, hope things are well. David, where did you get the catalog from?? I love tillies,so different than anything else i grow, and they thrive on neglect, which is a bonus. I love all of yours and the containers you have them in.Is that sand in your containers, and is that bright green artificial grass of some sort.I just use spagnum moss with mine.I'll have to take a look at your link when i finish reading the board.Have to see what i can't live without!!! Deva,i have 4 staghorns, one of them had only one frond for a very long time, but it finally took off. TJ ,Yuppers,if it grows and i like it,i will try to find one.I also have a cottage garden, container gardens, and in the house i grow african violets mostly with a few other indoor plants thrown in. Sugi,I'm not sure which plant you are calling a ficus,to my knowledge i don't have any of those, unless i'm calling something the wrong name. But ficus do grow outside here in S.Cali,i did have one several years ago,but had it taken out as the roots were starting to get out of control, and i didn't want them to push up the sidewalk. Think that answers everyones questions etc. Thanks for looking,as you can tell i love my plants, flowers etc. kathi...See MoreNew plant additions per Andrew's request..Pictures
Comments (16)Andrew that doesn't surprice me that they are flowering this early and young, and it doesn't surprise me that they like the cool weather, that is what I have been saying all along. Crassla are winter growers here in my hot valley and I did notice the flowers are showing up on the North side of the plants, which does surprise me. The Southern Hemsiphere is opposite then the Northern, and the water in toilets go down in the opposite direction, Please edit for spelling anyone. Comments (10)Thanks for the nice comments. The room faces SouthEast, so we'll get lots of sun. I think it's too late to add a arch, not sure we could anyhow cause I think there is a header above the window. What do I know though - I'm not a carpenter. lol If you want to feel clueless just add a room onto your house.. everyone will confuse you asking things like "Do you want sand swirled ceilings?", "Grooved or non-grooved decking?" What?? DH has left almost everything up to me and it is giving me a headache. I've been brainstorming today and think I'll buy a stained glass transom for the pass through. A nice long one to fit the space and hanging down just about 9 inches so it doesn't block my view. I've found a seller on Etsy who makes them with old clear dishes/coasters - very cool! I'd still have room on the sill for a cat-safe plant. I do love sparkly stuff Mingo, but I think you're trying to get Winston in trouble! I just wonder what he could do with beaded curtains? LOL I'm sure I'll find a place out of paw's way though for some of my old lamp crystals....See Moretimbz6
