Outdoor metal spiral stairway pro's and con's?

Movin South

Our outdoor patio has about 9.5 feet drop to ground due to the slope of our lot. Current plan has "L" shaped concrete stairway (8 steps, landing, then 9 steps after bend.) It's OK but takes up a lot of space. Wonder if metal spiral stair (about 8' diameter) would be a better option or a problem long term (rust, bouncing, safety for grandchildren...) Patio railing will probably be wrought iron, and one potential builder estimated cost difference to be approx. $1k between the two (spiral cheaper.) Any advice on this issue. Thanks.
