Comments (15)Holedigger, the ottomans were not FREE, they were just matching :-) However the other line Camano does not have ottomans at all. And I am looking for the dust covers as well. Heading off to local Big Box store... And, I procrastinated on my order for about a week and on Mem Day weekend the prices went up right in front of my eyes. Anyways, the difference was not much - and definitely that heartache is gone now that I am enjoying the summer. I also read on Amazon that people have replaced their Falkner default cushions with RH or S&H cushions and size-wise they matched, plus they are of better quality. I am planning to replace mine maybe next year. Any experiences shared would be appreciated. BlueKit: Nice definition of summer!! LOL....over here in Northern CA summer is not quite that long but close.....See MoreMini blinds as markers: plastic or metal?
Comments (13)I have been using the metal miniblinds for years now and find that If I mark them on both ends and on both sides then the weather doesn't fade or erase them. When they start to fade on the upper side I rewrite the name and flip them. They last much longer than plastic. I get mine at the restore we have down the block but have seen them at thrift stores and such over the years. I use a Sharpie permanent marker but am interested to see how your ear tag marker works Natalie. I'm sure I can get one of those at the Vet and Pet supply shop down the road from us. :) I too have heard that the grease pencils work well. I shall have to check out Staples for one of those. Kathy, do you actually engrave the blind in pencil? I haven't used that method before. :) Ginny...See MoreOutdoor Grills - DCS vs. American Outdoor Grill
Comments (21)I have cooked on all three and the TEK IR is the only gas grill that cooks as well as charcoal. It's advantages over charcoal are that it is quick to set up, easy to clean up and does an excellent job of creating the charcoal taste. As many here know, the flavor is created by the smoke from the fat striking the hot surface be it charcoal or something else. The higher the IR energy (from gas or charcoal) and the less the flame, the more smoke generated rather than being turned into additional flame. The TEK creates a great deal of smoke because the IR glass sits between the flame and the dripping grease. On older style IR burners there is still an open flame to ignite the grease drippings reducing the amount of smoke to add flavor. With charcoal, once the embers are glowing red, it is emitting a lot of IR and much less to no flame and hence produces a lot of smoke and flavor. I have owned the FireMagic and I would not purchase another. The burners are cast SS but they still do rust over time and the flavor grills wear out too. They are very hard to clean and the heat was not anywhere near as good as the advertisements. If you are the type that never clean a grill and don't mind a gritty looking grill it may not matter. I am the type that wants it to look clean and inviting each time and the self cleaning feature along with the dishwasher removal panels makes the TEK a breeze to clean and keep looking nice. For me that was worth a lot. The more conventional grills like the Firemagic, even with their ceramic infrared burner are not even a close match....See MorePros & Cons of boiler heating system?
Comments (16)I have a boiler system in my 1960 2 bedroom ranch. I love the way it warms the house, but my only problems/complaints are: 1.) When the heat starts up you can hear the copper fins "clicking" as the expand. This is because the previous owners have them all banged up and at some point I'll have to straighten them all up. 2.) You'll need a humidifier. My house gets extremely dry during winter months and we had to buy several small units and put them in the bedrooms. I wish i had a whole house unit to add humidity, but there is no way to do this using a hyrdonic system....See MoreMovin South
