I would personally choose a carpet that is in matching in colour to some of the lighter areas of the tile. This is highly dependent on the colour of your DOG....if you have a white dog then the lighter the carpet, the less 'hair' you will see. If you have a darker dog, then a slightly darker carpet (not by much) will show less. I mid-tone gray that matches the overall colour family of your tile will do just fine. Carpet in bedrooms are well accepted in the housing industry. Most home buyers do not get upset if you have carpet in bedrooms and then hard surfaces elsewhere.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the current tiles/ back splash is the outlier. The cabinets looks pretty new. I think the original owner installed them less than 3 years ago. It looks like one of those IKEA cabinets. Please ignore the refrigerator, I will definitely replace this antique. :) If I replace all the tiles with white color and change the floor to brown color lighter the counter top, would it look pleasing? Thinking about this wood floor. Thanks again.

Sorry but vinyl does not receive under pad. It is different from laminate. If it were me I would take the vinyl back and purchase 12mm laminate and 6mm cork underlay. Problem fixed. The 12mm = 1/2" + 6mm = 1/4" = 1 8mm = 3/4" . At this point you can use a regular transition strip.

OMG, how beautiful! normally I don't go for rustic floors, but this house is perfect for it! light oak with a very slightly whitewashed / greyish tone rather than amber, and just a little distressed. like the "beachy" look. this is a trendy flooring that might be fleeting in popularity, but I think might come across as timeless in your southwest home. the distressed finish will be a nice bonus -- if you scratch it, it'll seem intentional! I grew up in NM and have seen many historic homes all around that area. I think a greyer distressed floor would look pretty authentic.
