Denis, is the first one a young Irish Luck? I don't own one - yet, so it's just a guess. Something about one of the others seem familiar but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe a young Liberty?

The first could be Invincible? The 2nd possibly Sagae?

1 is not Invincible or Irish Luck - see the red on the petioles? Neither has red petioles. Also both Invinclible and Irish Luck have thin leaves. That one appears to be thick.

Number 2 reminds me of Pizzazz.

Number 3 reminds me of a Wide Brim leaf. Here is mine a couple of years ago. As you can see the margin width was quite variable.

My own guesses are:

1 Raspberry Sorbet. Yes leaves are thick and rubbery, I had discounted Irish Luck just on the basis of it being still quite expensive here in Euroland. I am not familiar with Invincible so I did not know it had red on the pets, I seem to remember reading that Invincible was a slug magnet, this suggests thin leaves, yes/no?

2 First Frost. I am 80% certain of this one, I got one in the same shop last year, It is not unfurled as yet so will compare later on.

3 Wide Brim, Barb is on the same wavelength as myself.

Guesses based on commonly available cheap hostas and gut instinct.

Here is my First Frost in May.

Both Raspberry Sorbet and Invincible have leaves of average substance. Both are shiny on the surface and underside but RS would be whitish shiny on the underside. The leaves of RS at maturity would be 7" x 3 3/4" and the mound would be 12"x 34" Invincible would have leaves 8" x 6" with a mound size of 20" x 48". I have no slug damage but it is considered moderately susceptible. This info is from the Hostapedia.

The scapes and flowers of each would be very different so you will certainly know then if it is either. All three are very nice!

Thanks for that info, This one is not whitish on the underside, does that change with age/maturity? RS and I have the same substance, so now I'm with you leaning towards Invincible but I'm just gonna have to wait until it flowers arn't I.

They're both nice. I hope they wind up being HVX free and can't wait to see them all grown up.

Hopefully someone that has RS will be able to say if the whitish back is present on a young plant. They are both great plants so either way you will have another beauty. I really look forward to updates! Thank you!

I'm with bk on No. 2. I thought of Pizzazz too. Looks like my NOID which I was coming to the conclusion is a Pizzazz. Here's a photo from last year. Yours and mine both have that wavy edge.

Newhostalady, I never even thought about Pizzazz and I missed the suggestion in Bkay's post, sorry Bkay I must need new glasses, it does look very similar, First Frost kinda undulates but not rippled like Pizzazz. ye have put the cat among the pigeons lol, I will scour the net for pics of a young Pizzazz, thanks.

The first hosta looks too thick to be Invincible, too thick and not ruffled enough for Irish Luck. Raspberry Sorbet is a good guess. The leaves look the exact shape of mine.

I'll post some updated pics tomorrow, it has got a bit more ruffled but not a lot bigger, I would be interested to hear what you think of it as it is now, thanks.

Here's a Raspberry Sorbet for comparison. A small hosta, maybe 10 inches across for me (about 25.5 cm for you European folk).

Eleven, some of us rebels still keep the old ways and still use imperial measurements lol.

So here is the NOID I have two of them. They have been in full sun so a little lighter in colour than yours, they have not flowered yet and that will seal it but looks like a pretty good match to me.
