Spindles/Decorative Legs on Kitchen Island? Is this wrong? (PICS)
Comments (11)I think I understand the issue from the pictures. Lemme know if I'm right on this! On the "front" half of the island there is only a counter overhang of about what? 3/4 inch? (I'm guessing based on it just barely extending past the door front) as opposed to the "back" half that has the extended countertop. SO. He can only move the legs towards the front of the countertop 3/4 of an inch at max (which would bring them even with the edge). Moving it forward that little may not move the ... How to say this? It may mean that the cabinet edge wouldn't be fully "inside" the leg. At the top it would, and at the bottom it would but possible not at the places where the leg is at it's narrowest. I'm betting that he placed it where it is so that you still have the overhang on the cabinets and the max 3/4 inch or so wouldn't truly bring it all the way in anyway. It might bring it in "just enough" but then be overly fragile AND then it would bring that leg to the very edge of the ctop and much more likely to see damage long term. If I'm right on the measurements than I think he did the right thing. I think it looks fine! You can double check by measureing how far the back legs stick out past the cabinet face to see if you have the necessary measurements in front!!!...See MoreLooking for suggestions to decorate the panel of the island
Comments (9)You could have something like that done by getting a custom laser cut out. I was looking for a wooden one once for a stair rail and got a great impression from this company, though we ended up going a different direction completely. Their prices were reasonable. https://lightwavelaser.com/geometric/ You can do a Google search to get more ideas, but you'd be looking for laser cut panels, possibly custom. Here's another company that has a good selection of premade patterns: https://artisanpanels.com/patterns/ What a fun and unique idea!...See Morekitchen decor (white kitchen)
Comments (7)Congratulations! When I move into a new home the first thing I do is take inventory of what has to stay. Second step is figuring out the things I own that are going into the new home (either can't afford to replace or don't want to replace). Third step is to pick the colors that make my heart sing that I work with what must stay/will stay. (For me, there is an automatic assumption that I will be painting, so I don't consider current wall color). After I know what colors I want to use I pick a neutral that works with my colors. After I pick my neutral I pick the white that will work best with my neutral. This provides me with a color palette to work with in each room. Main areas are usually neutral walls and colors brought in with upholstery, accents, art, area carpets . . . Bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry are usually painted in a subdued version of one of my colors and the neutral brought in in flooring, upholstery, accents, art, area carpets. . . I started buying MCM furniture back when it was just called modern. Knowing your style and picking appropriate pieces to mesh with your new home is much better suited to some of the other contributors. Showing pictures of some of the things you own and love can help them give you guidance....See MorePhotos of kitchen islands without decorative panels?
Comments (4)Here are a few more. Deliberately picked some that have wood but not shaped panels. If you do drywall, try to use at least semi-gloss paint to help with scuffing....See MoreLynnNM
