Which do you like better? Pics
Comments (40)annkh I think I have space for everything. The kitchen renovation adds a lot more cabinets than my existing setup. What are your thoughts on mitering the ends of the crown to the slope of the roof? That's the only way I can get the taller cabinets in. I guess I could go with 39" uppers. I'm still thinking about ways to reduce my price. I've taken some suggestions by livewire. I could reduce the cost by doing the following. -Creating a 9" full door base for my cookie sheets, cutting boards, etc. This would eliminate a costly all drawer base cabinet. I will, however, have to extend the easy reach corner base cabinet 3inches. I don't think it would add that much cost to it. (potential savings $200) -Go with a chimney vent. (potential savings (700-800) -Go with a blind cabinet in the wall corner. The blind corner and larger wall cabinet will add some cost, but I will save around $600 on the square wall corner. I will also need to order a trim piece for the other wall cabinet that butts into the blind corner. What is the normal size trim that goes there? (potential savings ($300) -The sink cabinets will cost around a thousand dollars. $450 sink base, $500 for the legs. Finished flushed ends added to the sink base $60. two trim pieces $80 I really like the look of the apron sink with the legs on both sides. I may be able to look at a spec book and come up with a similar look. Half legs would save a little bit of money. -DIY paneling for the peninsula. This could save me anywhere from $700 to $1200 depending on the tier discount I receive. -Raising the cabinets will add to the price....See Morewhich range hood do you like better
Comments (11)Just wanted to make sure you have also seen the Vent-a-hood "Excalibur" model, which is a almost the same as the Rangecraft Canterbury that you like. The Excalibur comes two ways: in an undercabinet style, but that one is only 9" high (#XRH9), and a wall-mount style that is 18" high (#XRH18). Unfortunately, the pics on the VAH website for the Excalibur are TERRIBLE. But note that you can change the black bands that come standard on the Excalibur for bands with rivets like the Canterbury's. The bands can be in a number of different finishes too. Of course, the bands with rivets are an upcharge, so I am not sure if that makes the Excalibur go out of your price range. You can also use the Excalibur with a duct cover (like your second pic) or as an undercabinet style. There's also a pic on the VAH website that's a little better. Under the "Range Hood Styles" tab, click on "Design Ideas", and look at the bottom row of pics for the Excalibur. It's still not the greatest photo, but you may be able to see how similar to the Rangecraft Canterbury it is. Comments (29)Well, IMO, the artwork you posted, of the wine bottles, is perfect for the PS. I think your kitchen right now is SO monotone that the brown/green in the PS will actually give it some life, some warmth. My suggestion would be to get a sample pine and paint as much of the kitchen using the sample paint as you can (you can probably paint the entire kitchen with it). then live with it for a week, and see how you feel about it. You might not like it at first as it will be a change (although not a dramatic one!). I kind of get the feeling you're hesitant to make a move because of that, which leads me to believe your first instinct will be to regret any change (which also explains why your first choices of paint color were so darn close to what you've got there now!). At any rate, the brown/green of the PS will definitely be better than the pink of the Twine! I really like the way the PS shows in that inspiration pic of the bathroom. and it will be great with your countertops too....See MoreAre these to large for the kitchen and which do you like better?
Comments (10)Hard to say without knowing the dimensions of the light..but they seem too high(just the lights themselves, without chain and all) for 8 feet ceiling. Diameter will be good..but with height, your max is approximately 23-24 inches(only if the lights go over the table..yours will)..and you also want to allow for a chain that will look proportionately to the light itself..it being a lantern -you can't allow the chain that's too short. PS I like both lights..is one of them glass and one-just a cage? I like the cage, but the glass might be less harsh for the eyes. Or are both of them glass? A bit hard to see, on the pics.....See Morerebunky
