Does anyone know anything about the bush lilies?
Comments (3)I had no idea what you were talking about until Ladywindsurfer posted. I do have one Clivia miniata. It is a houseplant for me, although a pretty hardy and unusual* one. I place it outdoors after the last frost date and it stays out there until night temps drop into the 40s. In the winter I pretty much ignore it, not watering it much, if at all, until late March/April when it goes back outside. In summer I place it near the patio on the south side, but under a shade tree. In the winter it is on a shelf in a corner on the dark side of my kitchen. Originally I kept it in a closet over the winter, as the instructions tag told me to do (sort of like with Amaryllis), but I believe they underestimated the length of winter here. Inside it does better in low light and where I can check it and give it a smidge of water it if it gets bone dry along towards spring. I also like to watch the big round seed pods ripen and turn red over the winter. It usually blooms shortly after being put outside and then sets its seedpods. Leaves are thick and big and last for a long long time. *Unusual as a houseplant, not because it is rare, but because it flowers outside and the seedpods are what you see when it is a houseplant! P.S. mine is about 5 years old, never been repotted and I can't remember if I ever fertilized it, must do something about that and the repotting when I get around to it. LOL...See Moredoes anyone know anything about Snapping turtles?
Comments (18)I remember when we were younger in Texas. We watched a big ole turtle walkin down the road towards Zeboes park. We walked along side it till it got to the main road then my twin sister and I each grabbed a side of the turtle's shell and picked it up. It just relaxed and enjoyed the ride. We heard a hissing when we first went to pick it up but after that it didn't make any noises at all. It was relaxed and non agressive at all. I suppose that is when I first fell in love with turtles. I have encountered a few agressive turtles but not many. I am very cautious of COOTERS tho. I am curious if that is a nickname for a certain type of turtle that is indigenous to South Carolina or if it is a real type of turtle? I guess I will just google it. I am not at all fond of water birds. Our experiences with water fowl has been more problematic than anything else. I have had ducks and geese chase and attack our daughters when they were toddlers. They would chase my daughters and take their bottles and any food they may have had in their hands or mouths. They have attacked my chihuahuas and my cats. I have seen small birds dive bomb my cats. Tho I must admit, it is quite comical to watch. Those little birds do damage to my four legged friends. I can't stand the bird droppings all over everything. Turtles are good. I could not imagine eating anything soooooooooo cute....See MoreDoes anyone have anything from the Whirlpool White Ice line?
Comments (20)I have white appliances (whirlpool) and am replacing my stove and fridge. I have decided to get a white stove (since I have a white over stove microwave) and I'm considering going with an all stainless (no black) fridge. We do have some stainless/black small appliances (toaster oven, coffee maker, etc) so I think the stainless might look nice with that, but I don't want to have to replace the dishwasher and microwave right now. Thanks to the pictures in this thread I can visualize that it wouldn't be so bad to mix them up!...See MoreAnything good to say about GE Profile?
Comments (24)You be the judge before you buy GE. We purchased a side by side refridgerator some 7 years ago. It's been a total 7 year lemon, I can tell you we would never buy again another GE appliance in a million years. It has been repaired over and over again, numerous motherboards, the motherboard behind the dispenser as well. The ice maker went belly up, no ice, then it totally went haywire and all we could get was crushed ice. The heaters have been replaced about 4 times. We were frightened to go away on hoilday afraid of what we might find wrong with the fridge when we got back. Do you know what a pain it is to have to empty the freezer section over and over again to defrost the back panel after the heater has broken. It is a right Royal Pain in the butt. All the frozen food has to be removed and the back panel taken off to be able to defrost around the freezer colis!!! *%^&*( $#%& We have contacted GE many times we also brought to there attention that the electrical contacts where the heater plugs into were scorched both sides!! Now, is this a major fire risk!! So the saga goes on, yes you guessed it, the auger in the freezer has come to a complete stop, will not deliver ice. When we purchased this no one told us that we would be subjected to continuous repairs and breakdowns of this aplliance. It would be a great unit for the Red Green TV show. We have been corresponding with Head Office GE and we asked for a replacement fridge because of the lemon we purchased. No was the reponse, we believe GE has been very fair to you!!!!! Are we living on the same planet? If that's GE's fair practise they must be out to lunch! We have put up with this crappy fridge for 7 years, repairs, breaking down, emptying the freezer over and over again! It just is non-stop and now the auger has completely stopped working and does not deliver ice. We have to come up with another $1100 for a replacement. Would I buy another GE appliance, not in a million years. Robert This post was edited by Robert129129 on Thu, Sep 12, 13 at 18:16...See Morekitasei
