So our bathroom is already to use and I'd just like to add some beautiful decor. We are open to decorating ideas, so please share any suggestions you have in mind.
This is a basic bird's-eye view of our bathroom plan, just to help paint a picture.
This
is your view as you first walk in. For this space we want to add a shower
curtain to prevent spillage, and curtains are a cheaper option for us. I was
thinking split curtains would make the area look spacious and we would make the
curtains the length of this tub so that when we have the curtains split they
wouldn't make the bathroom look crowded or spacious.
My
main questions are what colour or pattern curtains to purchase, would the
curtains be covering up the empty space or it wouldn't effect the aesthetic
view so much given that we'll adjust the length, and what to do with the window
sill? My sister and I dislike clutter, which was the bane of our old design.
Now that we have cabinets we plan to store our products in the cabinets and
only take out what we need during our shower/bath session. So that sill will be
relatively empty most of the time. I was thinking of adding two flat stones
with a seashell on top (picture below) but the one that I have is very tiny.
My sister suggested we can
just opt out of a design by adding anything extra here; instead we canhave our loofas there with our soap bars essentially be our decor.
There is about 34cm space between the tub and the wall. I wasn't
sure whether to leave this space alone or add something. My sister and I were
thinking of adding one simple towel rail to this place so we have easy access
during our showers. In case of putting a towel rail here what could go well
with this space? Someone suggested adding a potted palm
tree in this space, and we love the idea! but in case we couldn't find a small
and short palm that fits here what other decorating options do we have?
I was thinking of making votives for this space,
but I fear it might be overkill and so I'm looking for any other option instead of a votive. My idea for the votives is as follows: I
planned on purchasing 3 transparent plastic vases that were as tall as the
tub's height, filling them about 1/3 of the way with small stones, adding an
electric tealight candle in the center and either leaving it as is -or- covering said candle
with a colourful glass to give the bathroom an interesting glow. But I'm afraid this might be overkill.
There is some used up space between the toilet and the cabinets,
and the waste basket didn't look good here. We don't plan on getting a toilet
roll because in our old bathroom it kept getting wet from the shower (when it
used to be closer to the tub) or very moist and damp when it was next to the
water hose (sometimes it got wet by accident too). That's why I shifted a box
of tissues entirely to the cabinet space.
I
wondered if we should leave the space as is or add some piece of decor here?
The same person suggested a tree hanger here but when I added one that we have,
just to get an idea, it sadly looked very cluttered :(
We
still don't know what kind of mirror to get and what lights. My sister and I
aren't in need of one with storage but it's been hard trying to find a mirror
that fits beautifully.
The
main problem areas here are covering up the empty socket space and what mirror
and lights would match here.
For
the lights my dad purchased two sets of the IKEA makeup lights as we are in
desperate need of them. He said he would mount it vertically on either side of
the mirror.
This
leaves an empty space above the mirror, depending on the mirror's design, and
also leaving the wires of the socket exposed depending on the mirror.
He
said either we can purchase a big mirror that would cover the square socket
hole or we can purchase one more row of lights to put on top of the mirror. He
said get one more of those lights from the IKEA set but my sister is wanted to
know if we could break the pattern and get a different set of lights that
match. Thoughts?
Also,
do you have any ideas of what mirrors would match? The mirror itself would go
between the mosaics. Should we get a plain mirror, one with an interesting
border or something else?
I
was thinking a rectangular mirror (width shorter to fit the lights and length
longer to cover the socket) would look good, especially if it had an
interesting border or it had a unique design to it?
We currently have a plastic pot from IKEA functioning as the waste basket but my sister and I wondered if we should get a colour that would break the white, get one similar to the SKURAR pots from IKEA, a different bin altogether or leave it the way it is?
As for our sink decor: my sister and family like how it looks, and they tell me once we have the mirror in place it will look even better. However, I'm still uncertain: could it be changed or improved upon? I'm mostly questioning the toothbrush and paste section.
We also wanted to know if should we have a small mat near the basin and the tub, have it in just one section or have no mats?
Finally, this is what I've done so far to get an idea of what designs we currently have in the bathroom. My only concern is making sure that I'm not repeating the same patterns again or that I'll be adding too much decor to the bathroom. Thank you for all your help!
I'm planning to buy another electric tea candle to go inside the glass container with the pink flowers. The same thing for the golden lamp or maybe purchasing a real tealight candle. I was thinking about how to secure this lamp because it is glass, and I'm afraid of it shattering. I don't want to fix it permanently in place, in case we get bored with the tank decor. What is a solid fix that we can also remove if we wanted to change things?
Also, do the seashells look fine here or should I put something else? I was thinking of adding a clam shell with the two little spirals.
I'm also planning to purchase a tissue cosy/cover but wasn't sure of what colour or pattern to get as I'm worried about there being too much white. Any suggestions?
