Can anyone tell me what this was used for or what it's called?
Comments (5)You have a very nice crimping iron, used to put pleats in all those frilly Victorian women's clothes. The link has a few pictures and instructions, along with some info on its predecessor, the goffering iron. Here is a link that might be useful: That Home Site!...See MoreCan anyone tell me what shade of White the Fisher & Paykel fridge is?
Comments (9)I see this conversation/question has lingered for awhile. I just purchased FP white appliances for a kitchen redo and took the plastic piece that covers the hinge on top of the refrigerator (RF201ADW5) to Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams and Home Depot to have them match the paint color for my cabinets. The hinge cover was the only piece available to remove. Although it is a different material from what the rest of the refrigerator, the color looks the same. It was a bit surprising to see the colors that turned up as matches in the BM line: Patriotic White (2135-70), Lily White (2128-70), Palest Pistashio (2122-60), Sea Foam 2123-60), and Fanfare (874). Be forewarned, the BM paint store told me the reflective quality of the hinge cover would alter the analysis results. Nevertheless, I believe the matches are quite close. I was less inclined to consider the colors that were noticeably green tinged (Palest Pistachio, Patriotic White and Sea Foam). I preferred the color matches obtained at Sherwin Williams. Their equipment was more sophisticated than BM's. They actually came up with a formula. I was told that formula would/could change with each analysis. They didn't specficially say that was due to the reflective traits of the sample piece. They said it was normal for any sample being tested. The first analysis yielded a formula of 1 B1 Blue colorant and 1 R3- Magenta colorant. The second analysis yielded 1 B1-Black colorant, 1 G2-New Green colorant and 1 R3-Magenta colorant. I had them mix a quart of the second color formula using their Emerald Urethane Enamel paint in the satin finish. (Not sure why I decided to try the one with green despite rejecting the BM green tinged colors.) I also visually matched the sample piece from the refrigerator to SW paint chips. I thought Ice Cube (SW 6252), Site White (SW 7070) and Rock Candy (SW 6231) were all reasonable matches and far superior to the BM options. Finally, I gave Home Depot a try. Their analysis was limited like Home Depot. I was'nt interested in getting a sample mixed so did a visual match using their paint chips. Etched Glass (MQ3-27) and Drizzle (PPU26-14) in their Behr paint line looked like good options. I think Drizzle is quite an extraordinary match. I just feel less inclined to use Behr paint. But I did get an 8 oz. sample to try. The other experiment I plan to do is to view the matched colors under different light conditions. I have LED light bulbs that enable you to switch between three different warmth/coolness tones. I have yet to try this out on the color matches I obtained today. But I did look at a number of different BM white paint chips I had earlier obtained, switching between 2700K, 3000K and 4000K and it was interesting to see how it changed the colors. I preferred how all of the whites looked under the 2700K (warmer) light. I know matching the FP white refrigerator means I will be using a cooler white than I might ordinarily be attracted to but I think carefully choosing light bulbs will help to add some warmth. Also, the wood floor will add warmth as well as some other wood touches such as counter stools. Sorry for the length of this!...See MoreCan anyone tell me what these are, are these bed bugs?
