Constanceann, don' be afraid, it will look amazing. I've seen that look time and time again, and it works beautifully. The color breaks up the whites and the whites make the color pop. You don't have anything to loose if you put up the bead board first in white, if you don't like it, you can paint it. If you do decide to paint it, I'd go with just a darker white, or a VERY light light gray on the ceiling, and still leave the bead board white. The angle of that last photo definitely shows the true size of the room....thanks for posting it! I like the blinds since they give a lighter, brighter feel. But hey, that's just my opinion. : ) And.........I have to agree with Caminnc's comment about the cushions re: color vs pattern. You have a lot going on with remodeling, so waiting on the window treatment may be wise at this point. Hanging some simple panels on each side of the window, along with the blinds, would change the whole feel of the room, but I understand you wanting to stay with the current WT. I think the white is 'glaring' at you because of all the other dark colors in the area and it appears to be the only white anywhere except for the flower stand. Finish the rest of the tear-out........and the white may grow on you!

Cbreeze, yes moonkat and i have the same, juprana columbo gold. I love the colors in it, especially when light hits it. Annes Arbor, i keep going back to Benjamin Moore colors so i am pretty sure that is what i will be going with. Thanks!! Moonkat99, i am so excited to see the outcome. athome, since we have the same granite (althugh your has more of what I call the 'rivers' & mine has more of the 'islands') AND I have beadboard, it's only appropriate that I bring out some more pics ;-) I used beadboard in my backsplash for 2 reasons: needed to save money, but also I have beadboard wainscoting on the 2 walls in the kitchen that remained original, so this was a way of marrying the two sides. What I did was pick up the colors in the granite with a glaze - in my case I was picking up the darker cream & using a copper glaze. Your kitchen is much sleeker than mine, but because the granite has such a lovely mix of colors, it might be an option to use a base color & pick up another w/ a wash. The colors in these pics do not reflect the coppery bits in my granite very well, but you get the idea...
