Sara Ann, what is it with us ordering too many roses?! We can be partners in crime! I just can't resist! I was at Lowe's today and an employee in the garden center started chatting with me as I filled my cart and commented that I must have a big yard, I told her no, not really, I just try to squeeze all of the pretties I can into it!

I had an Angel Face many, many years ago. I loved the rose. But the BS resistance is not good enough for my part of NJ. Sadly, I will only admire her from afar now.

Happy for you, Andrea, about the length of live cane you have after winter. I know how exciting that can be; it's happened to me a time or two up here. I'm afraid to hope this year as I think it's been an easy winter on my exposed rose canes, but our snow is just melting now so its too soon to tell for sure. I am so itching to get out there and begin pruning! I have new roses on their way this spring, too - the first will arrive today from Palatine. Whoo-hoo! Nothing like new roses to tuck into the already full garden beds, but that's the fun of spring, right? Love your Angel Face photo!

Andrea, I LOVE your Angel Face... that's one of my favorite roses. I planted her many years ago in my first home and have been looking for another one for this home. Where did you get it? It's unavailable now on both Palatine and Heirloom.

I also had Tiffany. That was a beautiful rose with a creamy yellow on the inside of the petals, but I lost her when Dr. Huey took over. I'd love to see photos of all your new babies.

Emrogers, The Fairy in a vintage wheelbarrow sounds delightful! I can't wait to see pictures! I painted ours a soft candy pink last summer :) It was getting rusty and I figured why not?!? You know, I think I got lucky with my Angel Face, as I've seen some not so pretty ones at the nurseries.

Anne, nice to meet another Michigan gardener! And Northern Michigan to boot, how wonderful! I've ordered twice from Palatine and get the Nov. delivery but haven't had great luck, I think this year I will order from them and get the delayed until spring delivery, this sounds like the perfect time! What did you get?

Molie, thank you for the compliment on Angel Face! Believe it or not this one was a "body bag" or early season bareroot that was from a big box store (can't remember which, possibly Menards/Lowes/Home Depot. I have been very lucky with this one! I have seen Angel Face out this season at Menards (just this week!) so maybe you can pick one up there, and you can't beat the price, they are usually under $10 and sometimes on sale for $3 at Menards! Worth a shot, if I were you I'd get a couple and pot them up to see how they bloom to make sure they are actually Angel Face (since body bags are notorious for being mislabeled) before you plant it in the ground. Sorry about losing your Tiffany! I lost mine to a cold winter and not planting deep enough for our cold zone, it was the first big rose bush I had purchased at a nursery and I was so sad when she didn't come back the next year so I am excited to try her again. Love the soft pink and yellow color combo!

Carol, thanks so much! Yeah can't really take too much credit, just got lucky with an Angel Face body bag on that one! On a happy note it looks like my Paradise Found made it through it's first winter in the ground! I always think of you and your positive praise of PF when I look at mine! I love those big gorgeous blooms!

Hi Andrea, I missed you here also. Winter wasn't as tough on all of us this year. Getting excited here with the new roses coming, It will be a while yet for I see much from those that have already been in the yard. Maybe early June for bloom.

Oh!!! I'm so envious - my Paradise Found died over the summer. I don't know what happened to it. I wonder if I'll ever find one here in Canada again. I just love that rose. Please post pictures of your Paradise Found blooms when they come, so that I can drool over them.

Hi, Patty! Yes, even though it was a warmer than normal winter it will be a while before I see any blooms. I am thinking June as well or maybe we could see a sneak peek at the tail end of May? I dunno.

Carol, oh no! I am so sorry about your Paradise Found :( That breaks my heart! Your beautiful pictures were in my mind when I saw PF at a local nursery last summer and just had to take her home and haven't regretted it one bit. I love those giant blooms! I will take lots of pictures for you! Mine did come from a Canadian distribution to the nursery, I know this beacause I also bought Rainbow Niagara there and they are say "grown in Canada" and since Michigan is so close we get lots of Canadian grown roses here (much to my delight!) I just picked up a Prince Charles (Canadian grown) here at the Home Depot!

Did you end up replacing your raspberry cream twirl rose, Andrea. Wasn't that one you posted in 2014 that did not make it? I see that you said had almost no winter dieback and I am a zone pusher...thinking of trying this one!

Yes I did replace it once, I believe the first time I planted it I planted too shallow and that is why it died.

This year it it is doing great with almost no winter die back but we did have a mild winter. Can't remember if I bought the new one in 2014 or 2015...but it is great! I got it from Edmunds both times and of course this year I saw it at Menards?!? In a pot from Star roses (I think it was star) I almost bought another one but skipped it and now wish I had snatched it up. Oh-well.

Oh Andrea, I love your Paradise Found!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't you just love the fragrance?!! I really wish mine was still here!! I loved that rose!!! Yours is stunning!!! Thank you!!!! In fact, your whole bouquet is utterly gorgeous!!!! I think the problem with my Paradise Found was that the roots were in a tight mass, so I don't think I separated the roots out enough from the container grown rose I got. My roses that do much better are bare root roses. Oh well. I'll keep looking for it!
