Do you water when the soil is dry? Or do you water on a given day of the week?

Besides that, do you use regular tap water? Probably fluoride and chlorine in the water. Spider plants seem very sensitive to that sort of thing.

Use distilled or rain water. You can also melt some bagged ice and use that water. You can cut off the tips at an angle to remove the brown also.

I water it every Tuesday along with all my other house plants.

With regular tap water. I had no idea they were so sensitive. I always thought they were very easy care plants.. who knew.

Don't water every Tuesday. Water as each plant need it. Plants also need/use different amounts of water during different times of the year, so the method you use isn't the best practice.

Stick your fingers into the soil a couple inches and water when dry. Water until it comes out of the drain hole, but discard any collected water in the saucer immediately.

You may want to collect rain water for any sensitive plants.

Has the soil become hard to your touch? If so, that's the problem, it's not draining properly.

Also, I'd take the rocks off the top of the mix, they're not serving any purpose & actually impeding telling if the soil is wet or dry. I rather doubt it came w/ those pebbles on top.

I'd suspect (w/ the others) it's the water, the plant looks otherwise very healthy. I'd agree just cut the browning tips off at an angle as suggested. No one will be the wiser.

This is a super common issue with spider plants, the leaf browing is from certain things in tap water it dislikes. I forget which but there is a lot of information on the subject. My home water is not so bad, but I have had to switch to bottled water for the one I have at work because it drives me CRAZY seeing this. Your plant will flourish in spite of this (start looking around at spider plants you see, most have one degree or another of leaf tip browning.)

Also, can't say I recomend cutting leaf tips. Tends to just expose more tissue which once exposed dies, leading to more brown edges. My first job was at a florist, and I was forever having to do that with peace lillies there...

These are very easy plants to care for, once you have a good understanding of their basic needs. They will even tolerate quite a bit of neglect. (Mine most certainly do, lol...) What they don't tolerate is the chlorine and/or fluoride that is in most tap water. As for using melted bagged ice, that will have no affect on the fluoride in the water. Neither boiling or freezing fluoridated water will do nothing to rid the water of fluoride. Which is why I just avoid using tap water on my spider plants altogether. Do that, and your spider plant will pretty much tolerate just about anything else.

I've recently pruned off all of the offshoots from my Hawaiian spiders. So they can focus more on growing bigger, rather than branching out and growing so many little plantlets. Plus, the old branches were looking kind of ragged. It was long overdue for a "haircut" to help freshen them up a bit. Not to mention, the pots themselves were getting quite heavy. When I got finished, the pile of the little offshoots took up more space than the original mother plants, HaHa.

BTW, there are R/O (reverse osmosis) water machines in most supermarkets that cost around $.39 to $.49 per gallon, which is not bad if you only have one plant that needs it.

I'm too scared to buy spider plants because of the spider plant massacres I perpetrated in college. True, they're extremely, easy to grow, I just can't look at one without thinking about all the drowned spider plants in my past.
