Stuck in indecision land for exterior paint - pls vote!
Comments (14)Another fan of the white for the house too, but I do sort of like the idea of the limewash for the brick fireplace and serving bench for your patio. I like the aqua colors you appear to be using as accents there and think there just needs to be more of that no matter which way you go. It looks great with the black furniture. For the front, are you planning to paint the brick around the foundation? If so, could you go with a soft grey there to bring in the grey you want? And maybe grey shutters. As with many homes, the builder didn't give you much room for foundation planting, so if you are re-landscaping, have you figured in expanding your beds or just re-planting in the existing beds? I too like the white roses with the white house, so if you keep anything, I'd vote for keeping those and replacing everything else. It appears you are in California, and it sounds like you may already have some specific landscape plans. I'd definitely suggest something slim and columnar next to the garage and replace the shrubs below the garage windows with something lower growing and with more foliage....See Moreplease help vote on cabinet color!
Comments (25)wow, thanks everyone! great advice! there is an overwhelming number of votes for going darker. and it makes a lot of sense to pick the cabinet color based on the tile and not the wall colors. greendesigns, thanks for all the beautiful pics. i think the wood looks really nice. localeater, thanks for the tip on the larger paper samples. i never knew they had those. i will have to ask for them at the paint store. i will look for a darker gray or maybe doing dark wood stain. i loved the Fieldstone color after seeing the Sally Wheat kitchen and always wanted to try having gray cabinets, but it sounds like it may not work for me. i will try out a sample just to see though. thank you everyone!...See MoreChippendale or Cable Railing - Please Vote!
Comments (63)I can see Chippendale on the house you posted at Fri, Apr 25, 14 at 18:12. But, the photo of your house looks more like the one you posted at Thu, Apr 24, 14 at 19:30. That rendering does not look like an obvious match for Chippendale, to me. I guess it rests on which two renderings are closer to the look your house will have when finished. When do you need to decide? I understand why you see the cable as modern, but to me it is more casual that modern. That said, what i "hear" is that you don't like, so I would not even entertain it anymore. I would ask the architect for alternates or variations on the chippendale, and consider those. How lovely those verandahs will be no matter what! enjoy...See MoreHiding a plastic bed rail....pics please vote
Comments (29)Jonatemp...had he not experienced the life he's experienced, I would betcha he'd have a much simpler kiddo room...and let's be honest, he's still sleeping in our closet LOL so really...he has a cool room...but never uses it. My imagination was sparked some time ago as I sat in another drap and dirty looking hospital room. After three weeks there I went out and purchased everything winne the pooh from a local party store and we covered the entire room's walls with winnie. He was only a year then and we spent another month in that room...and while it was a plastic goofy party hell...it was so nice to see him point out all the things on the walls, and the other kids loved to visit us. It was a great distraction when he was tied to a chair with his feeding tube for hours...not easy on a one year old. From then on I always have hit the party store for decorations for our rooms in hospital. You'll always know it's our room if you see a life size picture of some character on the door LOL So, I said to myself, he's not coming home to bland. Admittedly we got a bit carried away LOL and he'd have been just as happy with Thomas stickers stuck to the walls, but it was kind of for us as well :)...See Moretibbrix
