I have a pipevine on my trellis and I really like it. It has nice large heart shaped leaves and climbes quickly, but is not too out of control. It goes up the trellis, but not out to other locations. It is the larval food for some Swallowtail butterflies, but they don't eat enough to make the vine look bad. Also it has a very unusual flower. Mine gets morning sun afternoon shade.

Hey "Zen", You have several choices is St.Pete. There is Willow Tree Nursery (49th St. North), Dollin's (9th St. north), then on the West side of St.pete there is Jene's Tropicals (Central Ave & 69th St.) and two blocks away Log Cabin Nursery (1st Ave South). We find alott of great tropicals at Dollin's and Willow Tree, and I know I saw some Au.Tree ferns at one or both this week. The Monstera I'm not sure, I'd call around. Now one of the best places for tropicals and exotics is down in Sarasota at Crowley's(!!) awesome. Well good luck, happy gardening, Terry.

I grow a type of ivy on an arch over my garden gate called "Lady Lavender". It grows quickly, is easy to manipulate as to where you wish it to grow (I simply used bread ties to guide it across the arch after planting it on one end). It grows very, very quickly. I planted it about May 1st and it covers about 85% of my 7' arch and these gorgeous blossoms on it that resemble the "Sacred Seeds" from the movie Avatar, that are lavender and have this wonderful aroma that is unique! As a matter of fact, next year, I'm going to put a small bee hive next to it so I can collect the honey because the flowers attract not only bees but I have hummingbirds (yes! we do have hummingbirds in Central Florida!!!). I've never handled bees but I'm the adventurous sort of person and will try everything!
