Comments (8)Wow that's some stump, Denise! I really fret about my kerrii (that I got from you.) I'm obsessed with getting it to grow straight up in a moderately attractive way and am afraid if I turn around for 2 seconds it will grow at a right angle or something crazy. So, I totally sympathize with your desire to start afresh and "retire" the uglier growth....See MoreHoya kerrii
Comments (20)Denise, I have never tried really to propagate my variegated kerrii (other than sticking leaves that fell off when moving it inside to outside in soil, and then just tossing them out later when they started to look bad), but I think I would like to try. My kerrii has grown a lot this summer on the porch (FINALLY after years of just hanging on) so it can probably spare a few leaves and nodes. Since we know the novelty leaf-in-a-pot method really isn't the best way to do that, what would be the BEST way to propagate kerrii? It is a little bit of a different plant that my other hoyas, whose vines are a little more pliable. My kerrii has vines of STEEL, stiff and resistant to molding in any way but their own....See MoreWinter Hoya update & looking for Kerrii advice
Comments (15)Hi Carolynnv, My set up is a small netted cup filled w/ Leca stones (fired porous balls of clay). The roots grow down thru the stones into the water below, as you suggested. I ignore the algae, just add small charcoal chips from time to time. I have multiple postings of it under a former GW name or 2. Let's see if I can call some of those up. http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/1962832/ok-boys-and-girls-picture-time?n=9 and more (earlier) http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/1958028/sharing-pix-some-hydro-growing-experiments?n=11 and more http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/1966889/anybodys-kerris-going-wild?n=4...See MoreHoya Kerrii Help!!
Comments (12)Farrah, Sorry this thread is 2 yrs. old & is no longer active; it's always best to start a new thread. 100 degrees is mighty hot, I could imagine that might be why, did you leave it out in the hot sun? Was the store air conditioned? If so, A/C store vs. 100 degrees is very extreme change, might account for it. Drooping plant vs dropping leaves are VERY different things. How about a picture? That will give us an idea of your plant's status. Are you in the USA? If so, we could probably refer you to reputable vendors, even if it might only be Kerrii cuttings, rather than full plants....See MoreUser
