Appliance dealer won't take Amex for range
Comments (63)..chick - I think I have a pretty good handle on the merc. agreements and that one cannont surcharge for the cc transaction. But, how does my having 3 different prices (non published) and quoting you only the one that covers my O&P AFTER I ask you how you'd like to ring up the deal? Thats how my car dealer wrote up my invoice. I understand this is brealking the spirit, intent, and may even be strictly against the agreement but I also feel it falls into the grey area too. Since alot of people don't pay for larege appliance orders, autos, heavy equipment, with CC's, I think it's just easier to leave the xtra markup for cc transactions out of the price unless that's where it's headed. Otherwise it gets to be used car world with hot dogs and ballons and the price today is: tomorrow it goes up, next week more, if you pay cash it's this, finance that bla, bla, bla. I know you want to protect the home team (cc companies) because you're close to that industry. They are not stellar role models of fairness in the business world either, hidden fees, cryptic disclosures, privacy policies that state one thing then sell your name to a "marketing partner" anyway, and that's after you have to positively opt out of the share program anyway - can't just call em you have to write, and it better go certified or there'll be no record. I think this thread is great in that there is pushback from the cc co.s, consumers, and the appliance folks. Seems like no one is a winner and that usually means it's a good compromise. (appologies to the deciples of the WIN/WIN philosophy) I agree with you on the contract/ethical issue in principle but in reality I don't see this as any different than any other human nature issue when it comes to disagreement. The party that feels wronged or cheated or has the short end of the stick avails himself to any remedy he can find to even the odds. Sometimes it's cheating under the radar, sometimes it's hiring lobbiests to further your interests in D.C. at the expense of customers mind you, sometimes it's appealing through official channels, sometimes it's pick up the phone and start a dialoge, sometimes folks get desperate and get a gun. Civil societies have laws AND courts when they aren't folowed or working well. A current example is the relationship btw. the steel producers and the auto makers. There is a current contract to supply steel and a given price but does not call for price escalation to cover the current state of transport costs and unseen demand for raw ore. The steel co. want more $$$ Detroit doesn't have it, doesn't want to pay if it did. Steel execs have a duty to their sharholders and are not going to sell themselves into bankruptcy so they can be good standup guys and "honor" the contract. Options are to break the contract not good for Detroit, (no steel no cars) re negoiate, stop delivering would be breaking the contract like charging more for AMEX, but it's business and human nature. It will settle itself sooner or later and no one will be 100% happy. Not exactly a model for good christian living but it's how the world goes round at it's core. You conduct yourself as you see fit and I do it another way , and the guy across the river a third. As long as there is a bit of common ground anarchy won't ensue....See MoreAnyone have experience with Ad Mark (eBay) appliance dealer?
Comments (54)the reason why a 'clean' feedback record is achieved is because this jerk strings you out until beyond 90 days and you can no longer leave feedback. he has an endless string of his likely prostitute "girlfriends" answer his cell phone when you call to check on your order. sooooo, by the time he is done stringing you out 90+ days on ebay (can't leave feedback) and at the point of time where i lost THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS with this Harry Slime Man, paypal would not allow you to file any claims outside of 90 days. this is a con artist, the kin of an allegedly reputable LARGE appliance dealing chain in the St. Louis area. somehow Harry learned the ropes of the business and then got hooked up with damaged garbage that fell off the back of a truck and has pretty stock photos on ebay and what you get, IF you get anything is pure trash. we got TEN loads out of our dishwasher. he totally ripped us off on THREE pieces that we ordered and never received whatsoever the wonderful lengthy comments from "ashley" is the same blow up doll nobody who harry hands his cell phone to when the heat gets on and she (there's more than one of her) pretends to care, write down your information and "harry will get back to you". in this day and age of alleged consumer protection, i don't understand how this guy is still in business, if he is at all. the better business bureau was COMPLETELY WORTHLESS when i contacted them and i guess it goes to how much his rich family will bribe the BBB to keep his record clean. normally when you have numerous if not 1 out of 2 people this guy deals with complaining about being gypped for hundreds / thousands, the BBB rating would suffer. But the BBB is as bad as Harry Slime Man himself- just a bunch of slick talking bums. I have a feeling that the Slyman furniture dealerships do not want black sheep Harry in their outfit so they feed him the garbage by product from their business and then he goes off and rooks people on ebay for it. I never got any settlement on any of this. Harry pursued the sale and then dried up and blew away when our crap was never sent. what was eventually sent was different stuff and only ONE out of SIX appliances ever worked beyond a month. multiple ones were dead out of the box and more than one piece just was never sent at all. Like I said- by the time he strings you along for four months there's NO RECOURSE for you- so BE WARNED. if you don't get your items within a couple weeks time, file a chargeback and move on. I have no idea how this guy ever made it with a rotten reputation even through the year 2015 with the same MO, attentive customer service and then hookers answering his phone every once in a while and you just get shafted mercillessly after he strings you out past 90 days He may be OUT of business or processing payments OFF paypal (WARNING SIGN) now that paypal's chageback period is 180 days....See MoreWANTED: Fishing for Information
Comments (77)Thought I'd better catch up and let the newer folks know a bit about me. Married, all kids are too, and altogether there are 7 grandkids. We have no allergies but a few dislikes or aversions: DH loathes olives, the fruit. I dont like florals very much and definitely dont heavily many scented things. Love citrus scents thought or those that could be defined as "grass" clean, not overwhelming. Like handmade or homemade just about anything. I dont lean towards things Victorian or very ornate Love metal, wood, stone, ceramic, organic looking things Neither one of us is fond of the blood-sausage-type things. We both like nuts, chocolate (mines dark, his is lighter but he is changing), spices, sweet and savory things. I love lemon, We eat at home often, I love to set a pretty table, linen napkins everyday We divide our time between NYC and a small town in CT. We are moving in the fall to and down-sizing in NY. CT: The country home is eclectic leans towards the whimsical or lyrical, my color palette is basically established by all the things that I own. You can check it out on picturetrail.com under bubbeskitchen. It is the Sherman House album. NY is contemporary and traditional. We are changing our color palette when we move from the neutrals with dusty peach to spicy colors: saffron, ginger, paprika. My new kitchen is right out in the open; the counters are slate, the cabinets and appliances are wood-grain and the sink and stove are stainless. So I guess my new digs will be more contemporary to modern and streamline if I can do it. Here is a link: http://cielocondos.com/home12.html My kitchen layout is like the dining room picture link on the bottom of the "great spaces" page. I kind of have a free-wheeling thing going on and an opportunity to try new stuff. I do intend to reduce visible clutter by containerizing a lot. Thats what comes to mind right now. Hope that it helps. Bubbe...See MoreFinal choices--pls validate
Comments (4)Rhome and parkplaza - thanks for the reminder. DW and I will revisit. Have read the recall thread as well as some other posts on Viking's reliability and customer service (or lack thereof on both). We thought that since the FDCD is made by the same company that does KA, Jenn Air, Whirlpool, thus this model would be as reliable as the others. The price difference was just about $600 with the trim kit. But... will think about it again. That would be another agonizing hour or two of discussions and visiting appliance stores. The other fridge that we liked was the Electrolux FDCD. Country_smile - we did not attend the master chef class - just the kitchen showroom here in Toronto (Caplan's). They had a chef/ cook doing the demo - and everyone got really interested in the induction cooktop. -- Angus...See Morehomey_bird
