Experience with Brazilian Teak Cumaru Stability

Hi, I'm looking to redo the floors in our house and are considering the Brazilian Teak Cumaru. We were drawn to this wood for its hardness and durability as we have two large dogs. Does anyone have experience with using this on their floors? I live in NYC so there are 4 seasons here. Is that too much variation in temperature to be using this wood? We are concerned about cupping and shrinkage and do not want to see any large gaps in our brand new floors. We've also heard, that wider planks in general will shrink/swell more. Would it help if we bought narrower size floor planks to prevent this problem? Any advice will be appreciated!

Thanks.
