bedrooms too small?
Comments (7)Get yourself some 1/4" scale graph paper and measure out the room and cut some little pieces of your furniture that is to scale and put them in the space.....see if they work. Unless you have a huge Calif. king bed, it should be plenty of room....See MoreIs a Duet Sport too small for family of 4?
Comments (6)Just a couple of comments, regarding the previous message, their are two different models of Duet Sports, the 8300 and the 8500's the 8300 is the original like I have, the 8500 added a heater with sanitizing cycle. I think the 8300 and 8500 series dryers are identical, except for the trim color, and the 8500 run about $50 more. Overall I am very happy with my 8300 series, we have had them for about a year and a half. As to the question of being big enough for a family of 4, that all depends on your laundry habits, if you don't expect it to wash all the bed sheets at once, etc. if it probably fine, I find washing the sheets from our king size bed, plus 2 bath towels is about the limit of one load. Wash times are reasonably short, Quick Wash 28 min, Standard Wash 54, if you opt for the additional rinse add 10 minutes, drying times are a bit shorter averaging 35-40 min....See MoreSmall Addition, how small is bedroom too small?

Like lower ceilings, big basements, storm windows, dormers, angled ceilings upstairs. And I've been surprised at the absence of air conditioning (a necessity built into every home in south Alabama), and the intrusive nature of many heating systems--including radiators, baseboard heaters, boilers and oil tanks! Those things take up a lot of space and money to operate also. As older folks who married almost four years ago (second spouses), my DH has a home up there, and I have one down here. That's why I sometimes do a flip-flop from north to south, you will notice. I've been redoing his house AND mine. Jen, be sure to hang in there with us, a lot of creative ideas come from this group of folks. And Steph, you are so unique, giving your boy his own bedroom!!! I'm thinking you need to get out more? hehehehe Having huge antique furniture can be a drawback in a smaller home. Of course, ONE PIECE could fit, maybe, if it is a featured piece. Something that WORKS FOR ITS KEEP. I do hope you have room for the things you've STORED FOR 14 YEARS?!! At least, put it in place and see if it leaves enough breathing room. After all this time, you may have fantasized it into something it can never be, and you've grown out of it....so to speak. Dreams are hard to give up. If I had a good spot to put it, I'd be looking for a nice armoire...just because I like those. But I realize it won't fit my house or my lifestyle any more....See MoreMaster Bedroom, Bathroom and Closet too small?
Comments (27)When you build with the WOW and 4k square feet, (which sounds like a lot but is not ) . It is NOT when you give starring role /NEARLY five hundred sq ft of it to a great room in front of the entry. Another couple hundred to a "hearth" area ......and what will happen here is nobody will actually gather in the great room, the fire will be the traffic stopper. Then you give each of three bedrooms a "walk in " closet. etc Result? you are left with the master suite that seems ( is) out of scale to the wow in the middle. Also small scale kid/guest bedrooms. The only answer to this plan is to lose a chunk of the "covered porch" square off the kitchen corner, bump the master suite to flush with the kitchen exterior wall.Change the window, to two on the covered porch wall and center the bed between. Plan to lose the tub for a decent shower too. Adjust bath and closet , center the entry to those with a right and left side for each. Anything else requires a total overhaul of the plan. That would mean a second story with two beds and baths on a second floor. ..........a completely different house. But this much under roof on one floor, with allocation to functions as is ? Yup......this is what you get Bump the master suite....or build something else.. ( square off that breakfast nook in any scenario.)...See Morekjswags
