Whiskers, It would help if we knew where you were located. The early figs may have been the breba crop which just means figs that grew on last years growth. The current figs which are on the new growth are just too late. The fact it is colder now and as you said the plant has few leaves is why the new crop is not ripening. The breba crop which is probably smaller in number? You can remove those figs next spring as they form and that will speed up the main crop.

They will look stunning when they reach mature height next to the pool. Terry

Hi Linchat I had different figs growing my entire live. Some I like better than others. When I went to Just fruits, I ask the owner for a Black Mission fig, he told me they don't grow well in Florida, therefore he did not have them. I had one in Arizona and it was productive and delicious. Gave me two crops of figs. Did you like the taste of the fig that you picked? If so, that should be all that matter. If you did not and thought they were not ripe, let them in the tree for a little while. I usually did the test for picking, if they come out easy, and are a little soft to the touch, they are ripe. Let us know how they come out, maybe you can grow them here.:) Silvia
