How to grow more green instead of blooms?

Just looking for thoughts or ideas on how to promote better leaft growth rather than blossoms? I have a Meyer and a key lime tree in same environments (potted 5-1-1, 6b, South facing window in winter months ). The Meyer lost more leaves than the key lime over the winter. They have since both put out a flush of new growth. The lime put out a flush of leaves where the Meyer put out a flush of blooms. I fert rarely in winter with FP . I will be pulling any new fruit off the Meyer, but just wondering if there's a better way to promote it to grow foliage instead of blooms?

Additional information, I'm currently living with a slight spider mite infestation. It's controlled but present. Hoping to keep them under control until I get the trees back outside. also the Meyer takes quite a bit longer to dry out than the key lime.. About 2-3 weeks at the moment where the lime is 1-2..
