My 18 year old house has all wood exterior trim with dentil molding. The gutters need replacing and I have 5 or 6 spots of rotten soffit and facia, due to the leaky gutters and I'm told I can replace the rotten wood and repaint my trim, or install aluminum trim with vinyl soffits.

I'm leaning toward investing in siding so I won't have to repaint my trim every few years. So, should I have the dentil blocks wrapped with aluminum, remove dentil and then wrap the freeze board, or have aluminum dentil molding installed.

I have 300' of trim, so this will be costly but I'd rather spend the money than to end up with something ugly or cheap looking. Btw, I got an estimate for Hardi plank and it was VERY expensive.
