Mine survived with a plastic tunnel no problem, carrots and lettuce. The spinach uncovered. The warm weather will warm the soil and provide a nice buffer. Since they are soaked you don't really have options anyway. My onion transplants were fine with a floating row cover, the ones from Dixondale last year I didn't protect at all.

Thankfully I don't see anything too extreme in the forecast for here.

The worst case scenario is that your seeds will take longer to germinate. Think of all those people who "winter sow" vegetable seeds in the middle of December and just leave them outside until they sprout in the spring.

Onions are virtually unkillable but if they stay too cold for too long they are likely to bolt rather than bulb.

Given all the variables of early spring weather I have never seen the point of pre-soaking seeds of early spring crops. Summer crops? Sure. But not early spring ones.

Its goal to to speed up germination but there is no advantage to that with weather extremes and a real advantage to planting unsoaked seeds instead that can naturally respond to spring weather inconsistencies.

But if one soaks them then it pays to have organic mulch readily available to cover them with.

I have root knot nematodes. By experience I know the longer the seeds sprouting, the worse impact I will have. I guess it because that roots start growing on warmer temps, but if temps get colder, they just pause, with a small root already out. And then nematodes just got them all, before they can grow bigger and some how fight them. This is all my guesses, but the fact is, that my summer crop is always more successful then spring one, and I usually seed dry seeds in spring and soak in summer. So this year is an experiment, if I can get my spring carrots to grow.
