Words with Friends Game.
Comments (6)My friends keep asking me to play but I don't want to. Even though I do like Scrabble. I've heard a lot of people cheat at the game and even admit to doing it. I am SO addicted to Angry Birds though! I haven't played games like this one since Mario Brothers first came out. lol. I stopped playing when all the Nintendo controllers got complicated. Angry Birds is fun because it's not timed, and it has a lot of little secrets like Mario had. Before I got my iPad, I kept hearing about Angry Birds constantly. They even sell stuffed animals. I had no idea what the big deal was. It's a huge deal. lol. I believe it's the most popular game out there right now. There's fun strategy, too. I kind of got off topic didn't I? It's my addiction talking. :)...See MoreWill take any comforting words about teenagers
Comments (24)You've got some great advice above. 14 year olds are little hormone casseroles and I'm sure they must feel terrible about themselves when their emotions get the best of them. Just give them some slack on the little things and choose your battles wisely. Like others here, I was very consistent when my kids were young, in fact, I found out later that my sisters used to talk about me behind my back because they thought I was too strict with my son's behavior. None of my sisters had kids at that time and later one of them told me that she used to think I was too strict but that she realized how well my kids listened to me because they knew I meant what I said. I didn't give my kids warnings over and over. I told them what behavior I expected and if they didn't follow it, we left or stopped what we were doing. Sometimes I felt like I was punishing myself because we'd have to leave stores, resturaunts, even grandpa and grandmas house. It was exhausting, but so worth it. That said, I thought 14 was the toughest age with my DS. He seemed to think that because he was now physically bigger than me, that we were equals. WRONG. There were a few times when he spoke disrepectfully to me, thought he was smarter than I am and was just a pain in the butt. One thing that worked for me my son was disrepectful to me is my husband (his dad) made it clear to our son that not only was I his mother and it was wrong to speak to me that way, but my husband would not tolerate anyone speaking to his wife disrespectfully, he said "don't you dare speak like that to my wife, I will not allow anyone to speak to her like that and if it continues, you will deal with me" Now, my husband isn't mean or scary or violent or anything like that but it made quite an impression on my son. 14 was a struggle but the rest of his teenage years were mostly alot of fun. Teenagers are such interesting people and its so fun to watch the little person you nurtured grown into a wonderful young adult. It really helps to keep your sense of humor through this too....See MoreAny ideas on how to word an invitation requesting no gifts?
Comments (24)I'm sorry, Ally -- I do see your concern -- but there's no "usually" about it: it's never appropriate to mention gifts in a wedding invitation -- including yours. If you are talking about a shower invitation, not the wedding invitation, you have a little more leeway: shower invitations often refer to gifts, often by theme and even by including registry info (I am not crazy about the latter, but it does seem to be common now). But specifying cash for a shower? Not okay, sorry. Search this thread. Search any etiquette or bridal forum. Consult any etiquette book or authority. You will not find even one approving a "cash shower." Even though your reasoning is the difficulty of transporting gifts, don't take the risk of looking mercenary and crass. Try to envision a cash shower: the guests sit and watch the bride open envelope after envelope of cash or checks. Does that sound entertaining? To me, it sounds embarrassing at best. And do you announce how much each guest gave you? Now envision someone opening an invitation to a shower with a notation to bring a cash gift. Even if you understand that the couple is moving overseas and "thing" gifts might be harder to transport, how would that look to you? True, the invitation comes from the host, not from you, but everyone knows you provided the guest list and presumably approved an idea like a request for cash. How is this any different from "Please come to a party and fork over some money"? If I were your friend or relative, I wouldn't say a word to you. But I'd be really, really put off. Your situation is unusual -- but it's not "unique." I have been to more than one wedding just in the last year where the couple lived far away, including one overseas. It's no more inconvenient, and only a little more expensive, to ship things overseas (use the items before you go if necessary to avoid paying duty, at least to some countries). If you won't be overseas for more than a few years, then leave things you won't need for a while with your parents or in storage....See MoreOur friend and little Nebraskanite (new word! lol) just sent me
Comments (5)She is so cute! Trolls will definitely put a smile on your face. Jenni sent me a "cancer sucks" troll. She went with me for my chemo treatments. Someone here at the KT named her Chemo-Sabe. She has put hundreds of smiles on my face....See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
