Here's my fig that I trimmed ~ 2 ft. off the top last spring. The plant did well outside during the summer and as you can see, the pruning promoted a lot of growth. The problem is that when I brought the plant back in, many of the "trunk" leaves fell off en mass.

How can I promote growth along the skinny trunks, and how much can I cut off the top to make it less top-heavy?
