I get what you're saying! I like to layer texture, too, when going tone on tone. I was thinking a slightly unusual white tile shape for the backsplash to add texture. Our floor will be either bleached oak or grey stained oak (haven't settled on this yet, because we have boards that are nearly 100 years old and will be joined with brand new boards). Our kitchen island will be either very dark grey or battleship grey. My thought this morning was that we could do FC on the island for texture and then do PW on the white cabinets. The thing is that the white cabinets actually don't have that much countertop space (against the backwall where the cooktop will be) so, again, perhaps I'm overthinking this. We had Misty Carrera in our old kitchen with white cabinets and it bothered me that the counters were more grey than white.

Hi Christie. I didn't end up going with Viscon White granite. I decided to use Giallo Verona granite and a warm cream tile. It warmed up the white cabinets. I also went with a light grey paint. I loved the combination and so glad I went with the change. I was too worried about the total grey countertops with grey walls. Good luck!

I've just googled these two names. The "American White" is coming up as another name for White Fantasy, mined in Brazil, or Himalayan White, mined in India. That doesn't necessarily signify that the American White one you are looking at is either one of those. Granite names are all over the place, and the same granite can be called by different names at stoneyards located a block from each other. The Bethel White name is definitely mined in North America. Because of the white-ness of these granites, I would see if you can test them first for how easily they stain. While most granites are pretty bullet-proof, needing one coat of sealant a year, and some granites needing zero sealant at all, the white ones tend to behave more like marble because they stain and etch easily. Not all of the white ones though, that is the thing. Hard to know if the ones you are looking at will be the more tough type, or the more porous staining type. Best for you to take a test piece of the granite, wipe a bit of sealant on it, and then a drop of wine or juice, and see what happens. Does it stain or etch or does it wipe off? Most people don't want to be a slave to their counters, or worried about them all the time. Most granites allow that freedom of not having to worry. I would check on the ones that you are considering.
