Are you quilting this weekend? March 29-31
Comments (13)Well Saturday morning I get a mom's day off as Grandma is taking my son to our church's Easter egg hunt, and then we will be dying eggs Saturday afternoon. I found out this week that I will not have to a surgery after all, so am much relieved about that, and that means I can actually spend time in my garden this spring and summer and fall and not have to worry about lifting. I got lots done on my parents' quilt this week. I only have 3 blocks left out of 100 to make. So will work on these 3 Card Tricks blocks this weekend and next week. I actually completed 3 hand-sewn Card Tricks blocks on last Tuesday and it left me sore and the muscles in between my back shoulder blades tied up in knots for 2 days, so I will try to quilt more slowly and in moderation this weekend. And this weekend I want to try to clean off my sewing/computer desk and get things ready to start a grandbaby quilt for one of my friends in April. I plan to hand-sew the grandbaby quilt 40" x 40", but should be able to finish it in a couple of months I think. And then when I finish that small quilt, later this summer I want to start hand-sewing the Card Tricks blocks together for my parents' queen-size quilt - I don't know if I will have it hand-quilted by Christmas so it may turn in to an anniversary quilt or a 2014 Christmas present to them. Also last week I got to go shopping at Hobby Lobby with my Mom and got some more 18" x 24" clear plastic sheets - so in April I want to sit down and draw out the Cactus Basket and make plastic pattern templates for it, I think I want to do it as a 12" finished block. One of my friends on the Quilting Haven sent me a pattern pdf for it she made in EQ, but unfortunately the pattern pdf does not print exactly to scale, but she did also send dimensions for each of the pattern pieces so I don't think it will be too hard to draw the pattern pieces thanks to her help with this project. My Mom said she would look and see if she can find my Great Grandma's quilt tops that she stored for us 3 kids and she is talking about trying to finish my Sunbonnet Sue blocks and top that she started for me when I was a kid - so I am hoping I get to quilt these projects in the future. Oh and my sister called me today and was excited about the Joann store app on her phone (I don't have a Joann store near me) and so she went shopping for fabric for me, my sister loves me dearly and I can't wait to get that box from her next week, that just made my day today. Hope everyone has a Happy Easter! Best to you, Sandra This post was edited by quiltingfox on Fri, Mar 29, 13 at 21:24...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Sept. 18-20
Comments (14)Most definitely!! Sorry I've been AWOL for so long. Too much stress and craziness going on lately, but it seems to be calming down again. My son is marching in the high school football game tonight (plays trumpet), so I have to go to that. Other than a few other taxi-mom trips and a few chores, I hope to sew all weekend. I'm starting a new embroidery only quilt (hoopsisters sewn seeds) class next week. I have everything purchased, but I have some prep work for the first class. This quilt will be shades of blue with tan and white. I'm making queen size, but may add a border to make it king so it will fit on my bed. I'm also trying to get my head wrapped around a kids clothes quilt I've been putting off for months. I find it very nerve racking cutting up the clothes to get them to fit in squares the way the mother wants them....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Nov. 18-20
Comments (13)I hope to get involved in some project this weekend to smooth out the bumps in my brain. Jackie, I'm glad you finally explained the birds and bees to these kids. Congratulations. The neighbor across from us just had her first grandbaby and it's the thrill of her life. So, that would give me an excuse to make a baby quilt for her to use. She'd be shocked if I brought one over so that's what counts. I'm also putting borders on the birdhouse wall hanging and I could even get the quilting started if things hold out. I do love to lose myself in a little FMQ from time to time. I'm expecting family tomorrow and then flying up to all gather for a big TG reunion with Mom as the star. It's strange to be homeless up there with the house sold but there's a hotel nearby that will do for all of us nicely. It should be a fun week seeing all my kids in the same room while they enjoy what might be their last good visit with Grandma. Will fill you in later....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (14)Those are gorgeous fabrics, they look East Indian to me. Lois, that Two Step sounds familiar, I'll have to go to MSQ's site and check it out. It might be one I thought I'd like to do, too. There are so many on that site I want to do, and I have done quite a few. Won't be sewing today, toe is still out of commission, it's my driving foot, both sewing machine and car. But I'm between projects anyway. I had to ask DH to go to Walmart and get me a pair of flip-flops in case I absolutely HAVE to get out. Boy Howdie, did he ever come back with some butt-ugly thongs! They were marked down to 2 dollars, they have watermelons printed on the soles. He said it was either those or bright pink or black so he picked those. I hate thongs but I can't stand to wear a closed pair of shoes right now and I have nothing else. I'm walking better and the toe isn't as black as it was but it's still too painful to touch it. Oh, yeah, I just went and checked out that 2-step, Lois, and yes, it's one I want to do, too! And I definitely have the scraps to do it....See Moregeezerfolks_SharonG_FL
