My Overwintering bell pepper plants look like their dying!!
Comments (8)Two of them look totally dead. One is hanging on. The hot pepper plant (can't remember which it is, but I think it's Serrano) is doing fantastic. I think maybe the bells needed a light set up for the winter (something I don't think I want to spend the money on...but then, I have to use lights to start a new batch of seeds anyway). We've been remodeling and I just now had time to move my lights and stuff to another room. I'm thinking of putting the plants that look dead under lights just to see if it helps them, while I start a new batch. Would you believe my Datura conked out too? I overwintered it last year and it bloomed nicely outside, in the ground late summer. The stalk had turned to wood outside, I transplanted it back into a pot to overwinter indoors. It was doing great for weeks and then it just dropped all signs of life :-( If I had known that would happen, I would have Summer Sowed more. Ah well...adventures in overwintering... Thanks for asking, PV :-)...See MoreWhite Bugs on Ghost Pepper Plants
Comments (18)I had a white bug on a chocolate hab plant the other day. Only saw one, so, didn't panic. It reminded me of an aphid, but, really big, stark white and build like a nest of white stuff it was in the middle of. When I was trying to determine if it was a live bug or spider's egg sac, it moved to the other side of the stem. I tried to squish it, but, it shot away and I never found it again. Weirdest thing...never seen one before. How worried should I be?...See MoreMy pepper plant is dying :(
Comments (5)Is it inside, or outside? If it is inside for an over winter I would trim all of the leaves off of it. It will grow back more leaves before you know it. Also that would decrease its need for a water a bit. Getting rid of the leaves gets rid of the bugs, and the eggs, as well as their food source. If it is outside I would still advise wait till evening then spray it with either neem oil, or insecticidal soap as per the label instructions. Take care to make sure you spray the underside of all leaves as well. If the leaves fall off do not fret too much. They grow back fast. All 3 of my super hot peppers dropped all their leaves at least once. This past summer. I got pods off of them. They are still alive in my house as I type....See MoreGhost pepper plant is turning brown
