I'd just over estimate !! I am sure you can use the rest of the soil up. If you can get a compressed bale of Promix that would be great. We get donations like that with no problem from our local garden centers for our Elementary School garden you just have to ask the right person. They may have a damaged bag(s) that they would like to get rid of. Don't get the stuff with miracle gro in it as you will only grow algae !!!

The ones I have now, the edge of the corbel closest to the side of the island is in not quite 5âÂÂ. The width of the corbel is 1-1/2" wide. âÂÂThe top of the corbel measurement is supposed to be 1/2 the width of the countertop overhang.â The depth of the current corbels are 7â and the overhang is 10âÂÂ. Tibbrix -" IâÂÂm going to have to search for some photos. IâÂÂm having a hard time picturing that. Beverly - Yes, theyâÂÂre solid surface and there is plywood underneath. The cabinets will be stained dark and at this point IâÂÂm leaning towards painting the island a lighter color. Gr, 4 bulb 2 footer isn't over kill, But T5 bulbs only come in 22 in, 34 in, 46 in and 58" lengths. A look at the amount of light (lumens) those bulbs would give off compared to the sun: The average Lums those 4 bulbs (22 in bulbs) would give you is 5400 lums measured 1 foot away and for the sake of simplicity covering 2 square feet. So lums per sq. ft equals about 2700 lums. The sun gives you 9100 lums per square foot so you're at about 1/3 the light intensity of the sun with those bulbs and is enough light. Question is, can you fit a dozen seedlings under the one fixture? If you used High output fixtures the lumens would increase to about 8000 lums or 4000 lums per square foot, better, but still wondering about the real estate below for plant space with a 22" fixture. poncirusguy6b452xx, your bucket idea is genius for a limited amount of plants. You're flooding and reflecting the equivalent of a 34 inch T5 florescent tube. I like it, but wonder about the heat buildup, ventilation and air exchange for CO2? I use 8 four foot T8 bulbs for my indoor seed starting, for small seedlings it works fine, only problem is when plants grow to high and bush out the bottom leaves will turn purplish green , not enough light below, high output T5 fixtures with some reflection would be nice. I mounted the fixtures (all bolted together) on a pulley system so I can easily raise them as the plants grow.

Thanks. It will be an 18 wide by 5 ft granite slab on top of a bar height knee wall perpendicular from wall on the end of a cabinet run. No cabinets below. Still working on how close the upper cabinets will be but they will not be over the bar. I was thinking mini pendants in cobalt glass. I had always been told that you want an odd number but one doesn't seem enough and 3 seems too many for only 5 feet. I am going to try the trick I read here on houzz to put balloons on strings taped to the ceiling to determine size and height of pendants to see if I can decide. Any other comments/suggestions are welcome.
