blomberg refrigerator in silver?
Comments (17)We own a Blomberg fridge with the freezer on the bottom. Two years after purchase, thermostat went haywire and we had to call a service person. $175 later, the service person arrived, pushed a reset button that's not in the manual, and it worked for 9 months, then it happened again. This year, another $163.63 later, we got the guy to come back and push the button again. So, it appears that owning this fridge is costing us $175/year + a loss of our veg drawer contents every year. I would not recommend Blomberg because the annual maintenance seems a bit more than I'd expect for a fridge. I doubt it will last as long as the fridge it replaced....See Morenarrow counter depth fridge, any alternative to fisher/paykel?
Comments (15)I have a different model Summit, and it's made in Denmark. It's 24" by 24" and about 80" tall. It's the model CP 171ss (stainless).. great refrigerator, made by Vestfrost. The freezer is at the bottom but it is not frost free. Because it has 2 compressors, I only have to defrost it maybe once a year. I noticed Summit has a couple new tall counter-depth refrigerators that are frost free. Including a 27" width.. If you scroll further down the page link you'll find those as well. Both bottom freezers- Model FFBF245SS and Model FFBF285SS I think these two are also made in Denmark by Vestfrost, but I'm not sure.. Summit told me a while back they were going to import a few newer models... Here is a link that might be useful: Summit refrigerators (imported?)...See MoreFisher Paykel Refrigerator
Comments (3)For a year now I have the FP one door, freezer bottom with water in door. I love it. No problems whatsoever. Very quiet, pretty and holds a ton. Just got another for my boyfriends house waiting to get put in after kitchen cabinets are finished being installed. We looked at the Liebherr also the 28 or 24 can't remember, but thought of replacement in future with those limited sizes there weren't a lot of options. Plus maybe it was just the model in the store but the freezer draws seemed to dropped down when we were pulling them open, maybe they just weren't in properly but if that were the case it would drive me crazy. It looked pretty though. For quite a few thousand less I liked the FP....See MoreDacor vs Fisher Paykel Refrigeration? Two units vs three?
Comments (15)@dadoes, yup, and there’s a reason why those GE units introduced in 1927 ceased to be. “The first refrigerator to see widespread use was the General Electric "Monitor-Top" refrigerator introduced in 1927, so-called, by the public, because of its resemblance to the gun turret on the ironclad warship USS Monitor of the 1860s.[10] The compressor assembly, which emitted a great deal of heat, was placed above the cabinet, and enclosed by a decorative ring. Over a million units were produced. As the refrigerating medium, these refrigerators used either sulfur dioxide, which is corrosive to the eyes and may cause loss of vision, painful skin burns and lesions, or methyl formate, which is highly flammable, harmful to the eyes, and toxic if inhaled or ingested. Many of these units are still functional today, after requiring little more service than a replacement start relay or thermostat if at all. These cooling systems cannot legally be recharged with the hazardous original refrigerants if they leak or break down.” Besides, those had just one compressor, not two. We can say then, that SZ is the innovator of modern refrigeration, with duel processors on top of the fridge....See MoreStardust + Gravity
