I like using perfectly good used paper for the printer, notes etc. I always have some around and I recently ran out. I posted a request on Freecycle, and I was given a nice box full. I was sorting through it, making sure it was all suitable, and Roxie spied it.

murraysmom, I used the on-line recipe from Epicurious and cut them with a knife once they were set. I think they're "better" than store-bought because they're made with cane sugar... they would make AWESOME s'mores and would be fantastic in hot chocolate because they melt so quickly and nicely -- a feature that made them difficult to toast on a stick. lol! Everyone loved them, but I think they would be better if made with egg-whites rather than gelatin. :O)

bigack, I bought this puzzle not realizing it's true orientation. I was looking at it on it's side with the Nuthatch at the bottom right corner. My sister in law put it together first with that same orientation in mind, never giving thought to the fact that those are Holyhocks! They should be pointing upward, not sideways! I looked at it many times before it dawned on me.

Just finished puzzle, a dual effort with DH who is trying to be 'good' after his recent heart cath. This is a 3D puzzle ( I know you can't see the depth of the picture here) it drove our eyes bonkers working on it.

Pigeon takeover of the bird feeder and birdbath. Must have been over a dozen plus and they are huge! Not wild about them. They drive the other little birds away.

They are beautiful birds though. We had one land on my husband's head at our Dallas house. We were at the pool, I was in the pool and he was standing at the edge of the pool looking down at something. Suddenly I see this big black bird coming in for a landing. I told him not to move! The bird landed right on the back of his head. He was freaking out because he had no idea what it was. But he maintained his cool, more than I would have been able to do, and I got out of the pool and put my hand under the birds feet. Just like I would do with my cockatiel. It was extremely tame and had a metal tag around the ankle. Turns out it was a homing pigeon. I was able to contact the owners, they said just let it rest there and eventually it should return. I fed and watered it for a few weeks and got really acquainted with it. It would hang out on the roof and I put a cat carrier out on the patio with food and water. It finally did leave but I don't think it went home lol. I think it enjoyed the free life. It was a beautiful iridescent purple and black color. It was quite smart. It would sit outside the window where my cockatiels cage was and they would «talk» to each other.

I have an ugly picture. One of my cats decided to pierce the other cat's ear this weekend. They don't typically fight at all, so this was a shock to come home to! To be honest, the pierced ear cat is really obnoxious about the "new" house and very territorial. I assume the nice cat got fed up and isn't having this puffed up business any more. I have to admit, I haven't seen him attack her (mildly and I always stop him) as he has been before, since this happened. Guess he learned his lesson!

Is the pierced ear sporting some bling? That might make all the other cats around very jealous! A jewel stud might be appropriate lol.

Nice band tailed pigeon photo caflowerluver! But you are right, those birds are seed piggies. We are too flatland for them now, but they used to visit when we lived in the back country.
