Why does my pitcher plant look like it's dying?

Hello. I have a small sarracenia purpurea (purple pitcher plant). I bought it at Lowe's about 4 months ago. It is planted in moss. I do not keep it in a terrarium. It usually sits in the windowsill. I water it every few days with water from a natural spring from a friend's property. It looked great up until a few weeks ago when something fell on it. Now all the older pitchers are dry and yellowed with brown patches. There is one baby pitcher that still looks verdant green and healthy. Is the decay from the injury or coincidental and the older pitchers are being replaced by the new growth? Should I clip them off?
