Teasing Georgia Growth
Comments (54)Thank thank you Carolina girl. Now I just need to decide on the top portion my friend calls me everyday to ask have I decided how I want to do that. He calls me his designer! LOL! I am pleased with this little side gate as this is using the old Gothic fencing that's well over 70 years old from my house. Lots of it brought it and I couldn't use it for anything at my house so he took it in his recycling it there. It just makes me so happy to see it in use. I especially like the closing mechanism that I saw on a neighbor's gate and copied. I just can't decide if I want something that's full Arch, a slight Arch or something coming up to a peak as I originally planned for the overhead section. I'm just not sure if they're too many Peaks happening. LOL! I always wanted a walkthrough gate and since I don't have one at my house I might as well have one that I can visit. JC, those roses look fantastic. I can't believe how much they have grown. I planted a teasing Georgia and my friends Garden my garden last year so looking forward to growth like yours! I might plant in other climber on the backside of this Rose to mingle with the perennial blue. I'm hoping I have one called Golden Olymp which would look very lovely I think together....See MoreTeasing Georgia, a beautiful healthy rose in my garden
Comments (71)I have two teasing Georgia’s - one on either side of my long driveway. of course I planted them too close and they will probably start to spill over onto it in a couple of weeks. Is Teasing Georgia a good candidate for pegging? The canes seem pliable enough for me to fold them in and away from the driveway but I don’t know if there are any unintended consequences...See MoreCrown princess Margareta vs teasing Georgia
Comments (54)I grew both Teasing Georgia and Crown Princess Margareta in Eastern Ontario, 4B. Both had a lot of winter die back and needed protection. CPM struggled and only bloomed infrequently, though she was also in a poorer site, less sun. Teasing Georgia was by far the better of the two. She would grow back from less than a foot high in late March to as much as seven feet by end of July. Her canes were also quite flexible and twined easily on a decorative obelisk where she bloomed a lot, repeatedly and often. She was also very healthy in a humid climate. I am growing CPM here in my new garden in zone 7a, Okanagan Valley. In fact it is the same plant I had in Ontario which I brought with me. I very much like her flowers form and colour. She is very vigorous and healthy here, but still only blooms in 3 or 4 flushes a season with some scattered flowers in between. Though this may be partly because she has only had two seasons in the ground here after the shock of a transcontinental move. We shall see this summer. I definitely feel that TG is Austin's best yellow climber and will be getting another plant this year to grow her again in a more clement climate. I would suggest growing grafted plants of either of these in your colder climate if you can find them. Bury the bud graft 4 inches at least. Hope this is helpful. Comments (14)Thank you @Minshen (8b/9a Victoria BC) , @Chris Martins Zone6a Chicago , @dianela7bnorthal , @Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR , @sbrklyn_7bny . @sbrklyn_7bny There are many roses don't perform well in my garden but I collect unique beautiful roses, so I'm happy to have them in my garden, ex: powdery mildew (Tijana, Osiria...), rust (Abraham Darby, William Morris...) Teasing Georgia has good vase life for an Austin. If you want even longer vase life, you can try Evelyn. @Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR How is your garden in summer? What's the average temperature there? @dianela7bnorthal I think Strawberry will perform as well as Raspberry Cream Twirl in your garden. @Minshen (8b/9a Victoria BC) Agree, Strawberry Hill fragrance is lovely. We often don't have black spot in California so I'm not sure about Teasing Georgia's black spot resistance. You can check with other gardeners who live in black spot areas.
