Tub surround - countertop (granite or quartz) instead of tile
Comments (5)All of our horizontal surfaces are going to be caesarstone. I don't have pics yet-not that far along- but here is something I've been drooling over for a while now. We are under-mounting the tub and sink... tile around the sides of the tub....See MoreQuartz Solid Surface to Face Showers?
Comments (2)I had a custom shower pan made out of Alantra. It is awesome. It was expensive, but it's is solid, no grout lines, and easy to clean. My walls are tiled. This is solid surface not a cultured product. Plus, I was supporting my local economy. Here is a link that might be useful: Solid surface product...See MoreCaesarstone (quartz) for shower surround?
Comments (8)We've installed Caesarstone "pebble" as an accent in our new shower surround. The bulk of the shower is a "marble look" glazed ceramic tile with Carrara marble trim and the grey stone along the top of the shower surround is the Caesarstone. The cost per square foot was the same as if fabricating for a counter top. I believe we paid about $75sqft installed for those pieces. Quite expensive to do an entire shower but nice to use as an accent, shower seat or shelf....See MoreMolded tub/shower surrounds
Comments (9)My molded shower stall is hard to clean-- it has yellowish stains despite our water softener and iron filter! It is about 10 years old and is made of " viikrell" ( Strerling /Kohler's product). Maybe newer ones and other types are better. I hate cleaning old -fashioned grout , too, but there are newer types of grout that are easier to clean. Mapei has "Flex color CQ" which i used on my backsplash and it never needs sealing and it doesn't stain! I love it! It is not a cement - based grout - I think it is made of silicone and acrylic with coated quartz crystals instead of sand! Epoxy grouts are also supposed to be easier to keep clean, though harder to install. i was just reading a blog post yesterday where the designer spec'ed a high end, molded shower pan for her own bathroom and slso showed a photo of that company's molded shower surrounds that looked like marble! It was on Maria Killam's popular blog "Color Me Happy" from yesterday or the day before.Hope this helps!...See Moreqbryant
