Should I keep the nightstands?
Comments (13)The headboard is great. It's actually pretty unique - unique scares people sometimes. I think the wood and mirror combo are too busy with the headboard. If you're set on mirror, get one that's mirrored all around and then you won't have to worry about it matching (see photo randomly picked from a cursory search, apparently mirrored bedside tables are pretty popular) ... but I agree with Manon, a round or oval shape would work with the curved shaped sides of your headboard nicely....See Moreshould I leave the cupboards plain or Should I paint the cupboards?
Comments (7)It is real wood. The shelves I will still decide on based on what I do with the cupboards. I originally wanted all of it white, but if I keep the cupboard plain, I will use plain wood for the shelves. Branson4020, I definitely want to change the base. It is thick and unrefined, but the width is seen quite often in this area due to several floods that have overtaken the lower level floors in the rainy seasons. The ocean gets quite testy. So contractor's standard sizes tend to overcompensate. So using standard measurements for the attic included that, or they charge me more. I am saving up for the kitchen that I will build from scratch. I was thinking of maybe just getting a solid base to fit the cupboards, but I am open to suggestions? This is my first house revamp. The attached picture is just to show what it looked like vs where it is now (the above pic). So any further advise will be great. As a new house revamper I predict I will learn a few more lessons the hard way. This house is quite a challenge as it feels like the previous owners took every shortcut they could find. There was one wall light at the stairs of the attic, the rest had no lights. I have removed the light that did nothing to assist with lighting the room, and will decide on proper lighting once the cupboard is done. Their electric cables were protruding in loops from the floor, and peaking out at the bottom of the floor in the lower room. They ducttaped open electricity "holes" in the wall where a box or coverplate should have been. Beyond the wall at the back in the lower picture (where the cupboards are now) they had loose planks of different lengths, woodtypes and widths collectively forming some type of table and the orange wall in the before photo ended a foot below the sliding door. The rest of the wall was pure white and the holes next to the hidden geyser in the middle that guides its pipes outwards was a foot wide and stuffed with newspapers and ducttape. So I learned. But this makes me very open to advise for future traps I might not see....See MoreIdeas for Nightstand for Bed + Rug + Great Color to make room POP !
Comments (0)Hello all. I received this brand new platform bed for free, and I'm not crazy about it (HATE the Silver trim, my hand to God, it's actually silver glitter,) Also, it's a little too large for the guest room I'm going to use it in and I still need to add TWO new nightstands (as I promised I would to the person who gave it to me for when they come to stay, they both want their own nightstand.) I'm thinking of painting the trim on the bed, Pewter, in a Hammered finish. The nightstands can be no longer than 19 WIDE and needs at least 1 drawer, 2 or more would be preferable. My Nightstand Questions: 1) What style would match this bed? 2) Should I paint the new nightstands to match the Pewter trim? 3) Should I paint the Nightstands something totally different? 4) If I choose a different material, such as Metal... would have it match the bed and could I find one with drawers? Also, I'd like to paint the wall behind the bed it a great NEW color to make the room POP! I have so many rooms in my house that have white/beige or taupe walls, I'd like this room to "stand out" a bit. I 1) I'm thinking Green, Blue or maybe even Red? 2) What Greens, Blues or Red is trendy there days? 3) No Oranges, Yellows, Lime Green, Pink, Brown, etc. please.) 4) My concern is, is this bed set too dark for a Green, Blue or Red wall? After all this, I still need a RUG to break up the wood bed from the new wood floors we just put in this room. So Rug ideas to match: Bed Nightstands Accent Wall Paint... That's "all"... lol Thanks everyone!...See MoreWhat color SW paint should i use to paint my brick fireplace?
Comments (1)Is there a reason you want to paint the brick? It is because you're chasing the all-white look? Or is the brick truly bad? I had a painted brick fireplace at my other house, was there when I moved in and frankly it looked cheap. I did have it repainted a different color which improved it -- but painted brick is not an attractive look IMO. If it's truly horrible gold or pink brick or something, then go for it, but if it's a perfectly service traditional red, brown, or grey brick I'd work with it. Posting a pic would help responses....See Morebossyvossy
