Show some favorite roses in different colors

I have gobs of good roses in nearly all colors, at this time here are some of my favorites.

RED: This rose has everything I want in a red rose: Beauty and fragrance and the color stays a true red. It's only lacking in bloom abundance, but getting better.

FIREFIGHTER:

PINK: This rose has everything I want in a pink rose: Beauty, fragrance, long cutting stems, abundance of bloom:

TIFFANY:

DEEP PINK: This one wins out over Perfume Delight, only because the blooms are lovely at all stages, I love them both.

PINK PEACE:

YELLOW: This rose is so gorgeous, I have to choose it: I believe it's on its way to being a very good rose.

BEROLINA:

LAVENDER: This rose is so lovely, and such a good rose, it puts out lots of perfect blooms.

LOVE SONG:

PURPLE: A beautiful and fragrant rose, I love it!

REINE des VIOLETTES:

ORANGE and CORAL: Once this rose blooms in the spring it keeps on blooming and they're always pretty.

AMERICA:

WHITE: Not much to choose from here, but I believe this one is a real winner.

POPE JOHN PAUL II:

PALE PINK: This is an amazingly beautiful rose that stays beautiful for days and has a great fragrance. Like Firefighter it needs to bloom more, but is improving.

BI-COLOR: This one because the blooms are always gorgeous, I can't help it, I love this rose!

1. Gemini - soooo many perfect flowers that last forever on the bush. A photographer's (not that I am one LOL) dream!!

2. Chicago Peace

ORANGE-RED

Fragrant Cloud - I have so many pictures of this rose. So many flowers!!

Gosh, you all have shown some beauties!! This is a good reference, and I love how shortcomings are listed as well.

Oops! I forgot to name the pale pink rose. It is Francis Meilland.

Ken--I took most of these shots before they opened this show up to the public and as the "Queen" was on a shelf and had not had the placecard put up at it's base I did not get to see who the winner was before Susan and I left to make the 90 miles back home to Macon.--Ron

They're gorgeous, Ron! Must have been a difficult show to judge. Mantis, challenge classes usually involve having multiples of blooms as well. Three of one kind or three of three different kinds. Then there are English Boxes that require 6 blooms. Or Stages of bloom that requires a bud, exhibition stage rose and open bloom all of the same variety. There are many types of challenge classes and each society can pick what they wish. As noted above it's usually sponsored and named for a local prominent rosarian. yes, kublakan, actually I am new to both roses and gardening. I bought this house 3 years age and started to plant roses around spring time of 2013. I really like roses and peonies. Thanks.

Lovely roses,Sara-Ann. What is with Francis Meilland? I only get 3 or 4 blooms a year. This year will be her last chance. I am looking for suggestions as it is a beautiful bloom.

Thank you Patty and Lesley. This will be my fourth season for FM and it is improving, still way fewer blooms than most of my hybrid teas, but much better. It is putting on more cane growth and looks healthy, I'm not giving up on it yet. I like it enough that I would plant another one to see if it would do better in another location.

Very nice mudpie! Iris, I guess it should have gone in gallery. I want others to show their roses, and thought more people might notice it here. Guess I should be more careful about that.

Your roses look great, Sara-Ann! Thanks for the cheer of your lovelies on a rainy late Winter day that has me itching for Spring. Agree more folks likely to see them here than the gallery. Couldn't hurt to double post there if you like. Longtime fan of America, too. Firefighter landed here last Summer as a band, sought for the positives you list & strong blackspot resistance in this no spray garden. Spent last season growing & branching out with foliage unmarred while I nipped the buds to encourage initial form. Thanks again for encouraging me to try this lovely rose!

Thank you vasue and Dan. I hope that Firefighter keeps doing good for you, vasue, it is a lovely rose. Dan, Peace is such a good rose to photograph, it nearly always looks good, Peace blooms are almost always full and a nice size, they're "photogenic.".

Sara, I have read your interesting posts for years. You contribute so much to this forum, but don't you live near Tulsa? If so, we have a Rose Society that meets monthly, and we would love to have you join us or at least visit us.

Actually, this invitation goes to all rose lovers, but I think that Sara lives near me. If you let me know here, I will send you my email if it did not transfer to Houzz from the Garden Web.

Carol, I love your Nicole Carol Miller, such a lovely rose! Beth, your Amazone, Superstition, Red Intuition and Hiroshima's Children are all gorgeous, thank you both for sharing.

Kate, thank you so much. I'm looking forward to seeing all my roses blooming in a couple of months, but there are a few, Berolina included that I am even more anxious to see.

Sammy, thank you. Yes, I would like for you to send your email. I'm about 60 miles from Tulsa, I believe it is closer to me than any other Rose Society.

president@tulsarosesociety.org I just tried it, and it worked. I will contact the president to expect your contacting him.

Our meetings are at Woodward Park in Tulsa at 2:00 the second Sunday each month. Our next meetig will be on Sunday, March 13. Woodward Park is near 21st Street and Peoria. We meet at the garden center near the Linnaeus Garden Center. Hope to see you.
