Your opinions please - 10' or 12' ceiling in entry?
Comments (8)I read somewhere on here about the coziness of a lower height ceiling in the foyer. Sounded like a very nice idea. Of course this was after our 2-story foyer was well underway but I still liked the idea. That was an area I did not research, as I always just thought that this is where I wanted my "wow". You are very wise in researching it and finding different styles & ideas for the one that suits you. I should add I dont have any regrets though. (yet) We hung our chandelier yesterday and it is amazing! I have chosen to paint in a warm buff color, & adding a bit of a Tuscan feel in hopes to warm it up and say welcome....See MoreOpinions on Exterior House Entry
Comments (43)I wanted to add, I love that you kept the brick on the porch natural. With most people polarized one way or another with regard to painted brick, it seems like we don't see enough mixes of the two. Painting some brick, but not all, can make the remaining brick look fantastic, and pays homage to some of the original detail of the home!...See MoreHand Forged Wrought Iron Entry Doors - Opinions or Experiences?
Comments (25)Yes! Welcome to the club. The door is a nightmare. When I see homes being build with these doors I almost want to run in and tell people to change the door before it’s too late. Looks good from the street, but a total disaster. Mine gets so hot in the summer, I laugh about it and tell people I grill on it. I had rust stains after only a few years, had to repaint. Get condensation in the winter, but i seal from the inside on super cold days - it helps. Actually in the process of buying some weather proofing for the door now and hope it might help Some more. Good luck!...See MoreOpinions on entry rug...
Comments (37)First consider the size and placement, then color and pattern. I prefer the first size/placement or the fifth. The first one could use a little more length toward the stairs. All the others extend beyond the natural stopping point; entry walls, hallway walls and stairs. Second, color. In my eye, the bright reds clash with the orange of the stairs and fireplace. As Patricia stated, look at the other colors and style in your home. From the photos, it looks pretty traditional, so all the rugs styles would work. Although I prefer the overall patterns vs. the defined medallion of the first rug. I like the colors of the second rug best (more blue) of the four, then the fourth because it has a darker red. But, I think you could find a better both size wise and color. If you do the fourth size, place it a few inches toward the staircase. Also, rugs with a border will also emphasize the off centeredness. Try a rug without a border if going for the fourth placement. If your staircase and fireplace mantel were not so orange, I would say all of the rugs would work color wise. Lovely home!...See MoreRelated Professionals
