What color is your door going to be? Also are you doing stark white windows? BTW: In the elevation drawing I agree with you that horizontal looks better. The problem is it's hard to match a red brick color.

Here is our house. We had new windows, siding, and gutters put on in November. It's a bluish gray color from Royal siding. It is slightly less blue in person. I couldn't decide on a color and DH (he loves blue) felt strongly about this color. The shingle is Weathered Wood from Timberline. The house is surrounded by trees and is partially obscured from the road. We're on a couple of acres. I wanted to add at times I think our house recedes into the trees but still has a presence. I think a dark color surrounded by trees can be quite rich. I'm still working on landscaping, and it was recommended to put some flowering plants next ro the steps so that will be next.

Wow thanks for the input, guys! While I think the green works, it's just not my thing. I have played with gray browns, taupes, and think they look nice. I definitely want to stay with neutral earthy tones but I'm not feeling the green. I am also conflicted about the tudor-style, or board and batten, trim. Do we paint it the same color as the siding to reduce the busy look, and perhaps paint only the perimeter trim a different color? This was a question our painter asked because it's sort of in style right now. I think the beige garage door is what irks me the most. We did consider a new garage door but decided against the cost of it for now. Our painters are coming by with some taupes and dark brown samples tomorrow, so keep the ideas coming!

I think you are right to be cautious about adding gray on your beige-rust-brownish house. Just doesn’t ”go.” Navy or green would work. The shutters you have now look like bandaids. Get new appropriately sized shutters. Your landscaping looks neat and well cared for, except the one red-brown shrub starting to get too tall.
