silver maple from seeds?
Comments (2)Blooms early and develops the fruits early. Pick and sow when fully formed but before they become hard and brown. Try searching "maple propagation" etc. on the web. You will have to handle them in such a way that dormancies are overcome before germination will take place. Seeds of cold climate plants have this feature so they don't pop up at the wrong time and die during the winter....See MoreUgly cactus meets pretty rooster ...
Comments (12)Irene, your arrangement of the Cheshire Cat. rabbot and Alice is darling! What a great idea to use them with a Mandavilla vine. That makes it a 'story book' garden for sure. The cactus is another of the same kind as the Madonna form, which has grown so much now it doesn't look the same. The seeming hole in the 'steeple' of the 'church' bird house has a piece of colored glass in it to resemble a stained glass window.. A dear friend who lived a few doors up made all the birdhouses I have plus two wooden benches I have in front. Then she had a terrerfic garage sale and also gave me a bunch of stuff when she moved....See MoreDo you have an 'ugly Christmas sweater'?
Comments (14)I started wearing Christmas clothes in 1987...I remember the date cause it was the year my son was born and my MIL bought me this Christmasy sweatshirt and a white robe with a big candy cane down the front (yes I still have it)...I also had a pair of white hose with candy canes that I wore with a red silk dress to work (I was working in the office then)...since then I've worn Christmas sweatshirts or stuff like it...I even ordered matching sweatshirts from Lillian Vernon for my hubster, me and my little guy for our Christmas cards in 1988 and we still have those...I pack it all up in a big garbage bag and put it at the top of my attic so I can pull it out the first of December...Yeah...so call me tacky.. THEN...about 5 years ago, Glamour magazine posted about how TACKY they were...WELL if you know me...you can just imagine how p'o'd I was and now wear them more often then ever... My son and his gf went to a tacky Christmas surprise birthday party last night...I had these antler glasses I pulled out that they wore as kids and he wouldn't go near them...I pulled a Christmas tie I bought for my hubster one year...He wouldn't go near any of it...he ran over to Belk to buy a nice red sweater and a dull green tie...someday when he's my age he'll stop worrying about what people think and be like his old mom who doesn't worry about what people think...I think today after seeing the party pictures he wishes he woulda went with Mom's ideas......See MoreWhat exactly does Cedar-Apple Rust do to Apple Trees, long term?
Comments (1)Yes, it is still safe to eat the apples; the fruit may or may not actually develop blemishes but if so they can be safely cut out like any other blemish. Cedar Apple Rust will decrease the vigor of your trees and may eventually kill them, generally reducing and possibly disfiguring the crop along the way. As you are finding out though, different apple trees have different degrees of susceptibility. You may very well already have resistant trees, if they never develop the symptoms....See MoreRelated Professionals
