How to use stairs to transition hardwood

I have light hardwood on my main floor. I am about to replace all carpet on the second floor with hardwood. There is one bedroom on the second floor that already has hardwood and it is in gunstock oak so I'll have to continue that throughout the rest of the upstairs even though I'm not a fan. So now I have to connect the stairs that lead from light oak flooring on the main level to upstairs medium brown/red flooring. Rather than trying to match either hardwood colour, I was thinking painted/stained black treads, white risers, white spindles and black railing and then add a runner. Thoughts?

Note, the stairs are immediately to the left of the front entrance of my home, so they are not hidden away!
