Anyone help with disease ID and treatment?

Hi Chilli Growers,
I live in Sydney Australia. Been growing chillis for years, but this is the first year I've put them in the ground. Had some Dragon's Eye seeds. The plants grew up, but now look quite sick. Leaves are withering. There is still some flowers and fruit but the plant isn't thriving. Can anyone tell me what disease I have and how to treat it?

to upload images, click the small image of a camera just as I did now.

Unfortunately, the damage looks very much like herbicide damage.

One way that occurs without using any herbicides nearby, is with herbicide carryover in manures and/or composted manures.

I believe Jean nailed it. Strange leaf issue on my pepper and tomato plants

Fruitnut... I hope. These were planted last summer as espaliers. The interesting thing was that on one tree in particular, the first branches (horizontal) leafed out while the main leader and the two that will make up the second tier are still in firmly in barely swollen bud stage. On the others the first level also leafed out much earlier than the others but at least there is some awakening. Mike.

Looks like an environmental problem rather than a disease. I realize you said the plants are in self-watering containers, but are you certain the plants are getting enough water? Other possibilities would be a temporary water shortage; and/or soggy roots.

Environmental stress. Among the leading choices are water shortage, even though brief, also sudden hot and/or bright weather/conditions. Definitely not a disease.
