Help! Mont Blanc VS Monte Blanc. Are either real Quartzite?
Comments (31)Our old house had from what I was told (?) white princess or white fantasy or super white stone from Brazil. Quartzite Dolomite Marble who knows. I never sealed it and I assume it was sealed by the fabricator. I wipe off the counters and the polished surface had enough swirls that hid any dull spots that may be considered mild etching from sauces (?). I loved the depth and luminosity of this natural stone. If I find something similar I’ll install this again for our new build 12 ft island and perimeter countertops. The man made materials are just not the same. The buyer and real estate agents all loved the stone and nobody noticed the small etch imperfections....See MoreDoes anyone have Ijen Blue Quartzite in their home?
Comments (31)@lynn The backsplash is a warm off white to almost taupe. In some lights done of the tile can look cream, but if you put it next to cream, it is obvious it is white. It was difficult to find a tile the color I needed, as creams are too brown, and most whites were too cool for what I needed with my tile floors (because my old floor tile I couldn't afford to change is that color and it looked dingy with bright whites). It is slightly warmer than white Chloe tile. My backsplash will only be against my perimeter quartz which has those colors (again due to my floor tile, which of course, I learned mid-install needs replacing but have to stick to design now). It does look nice by the ijen blue, as I think the biggest key is keeping the backsplash simple and Jerry the ijen be the star. The backsplash is supposed to get installed tomorrow so I'll share what it looks like. Hopefully as good as I think! 😁...See MoreDoes anyone have Ocean Blue or Fantasy Macaubas quartzite?
Comments (43)@S C - I was the OP for this thread. We ended up getting Fantasy Macaubas because it was less expensive. Its been almost 2 years since it was installed and it is wonderful. We had a ring of something on the lighter part that I thought was oil, but it went away after a few months, and I don't see anything there anymore. I was very careful for the first 6 months, then kind of careful for the next 6, and now anything goes. Grease, oil, butter, red wine, saffron: its all been spilled on the countertop. I don't worry about cleaning it up right away (after dinner is good enough as it gets wiped down then). Looks perfect. We got one chip in it from someone banging a pot down. One of these days I'll get the fabriator out to fill it in again. Do it you won't regret it. I posted photos somewhere above in the thread....See MoreHelp with Kitchen Island Color
Comments (58)Thanks RedRyder I’m totally going to try to convince my husband to stick with granite for the new kitchen counter tops. Now that I have great advice on how to keep it from Flo I want to go with it. I already ordered the blue and white candle sticks and planter and the small lamp in the same colors blue and white from Monticello for the dining room. I ordered the royal blue pillows for the living room. Then in the den I’ll put in touches of the blue. Flo helped me see the way to do it. We’re going to go with the BM Van Deusen Blue for the new island and the cabinets will be BM Simply White. We will tell the cabinet maker. Thank You for your advice and kind words. I’m excited for all the changes that will come. It’s going to be a while though. Everything is backed up because of the pandemic....See Morejust_janni
