Thank you Geokid, it looks great! The TV is something I haven't figured out what to do with, so I'm ignoring it. We watch it maybe once every 3 months, no kidding, so I'm not worried about it yet. I may put the tv on a wheeled cart so we can put it in the room when someone wants to watch it. The desk that used to be in my plans will now go somewhere else, too. It won't fit in the living room and still have the room look nice. The thing behind the sofa is a sofa table. I've never owned one. It is there only so I can put a lamp on it, instead of needing another end table. Everyone in my family reads a lot, so we need plenty of light. I think in the other thread it was you who suggested the runner, the armoire, and a bench in that area to the left of the front door. I simply replaced the bench with an upholstered ottoman so it could be used more than one way. I plan to buy Hancock and Moore or Bradington-Young sofas. If I buy fabric-covered chairs, they will be either Taylor-King or Jessica Charles. I think one of the chairs will be a power lift recliner by Hancock and Moore because my husband really needs one of these. We are going to a furniture store to check out recliners this weekend, to find out how long the back has to be from seat to top, since he is tall, and to make sure that a recliner would be best for his needs. It literally takes him 5 minutes to get up from our sofa, after having 4 strokes last year -- his gross motor skills aren't the greatest. Recliners take up a lot of room; I am cognizant of that. I don't know if one that will fit him (and that he'll like) will be so big that I'll have to figure on getting a sectional to seat 5, plus a recliner, and no other chairs. I am limited by the small size of the space and the max 30" front doorway (that is if I take the storm and front doors off). I have a 38" wide sofa in there now, and it was a bear to move in, so I will probably buy a 37" wide sofa. For lighting I plan to use table and floor lamps. Thank you for your help. Thanks, all of you! Really appreciate the input. Will get dimensions of the room but we don't have (permanent) furniture yet so we can really choose what is ideal for the room. We are moving from a small apartment and have a few random pieces but no keepers. Undecided on TV in the room really. There is a nice family room downstairs with wired in sound where we would have a TV so leaning against. Love the idea of a TV free zone and a 3-seater and 4 chairs would be a nice amount of seating. However with 4 kids, we might end up wanting one there.

I think option number 1 is the best----you definitely want the TV on that far wall so it's not the first thing you see when you walk in from your front door. I disagree with the idea of a corner TV unit---the beauty of this room is going to be enhanced by a clean floorplan that contains enough negative space for the eye to rest....not filling in the corners with furniture. You'll have one really great spot on the sofa/sectional for TV watching and you can use swivel chairs on the window side and pair the chair closest to the front door with an ottoman and that becomes the 2nd great spot for TV watching. I have a 3-d rendering program that would help you visualize the furniture layouts better and Ethan Allen has some mid century modern lines that would look awesome in this room! Update on my living room: Thank you so much for the suggestions on the previous pictures. It helped me tremendously to get an idea of what I have done so far. I just received my sofa after 5 months of patiently waiting. This was the hardest part.  I'd really appreciate your ideas for this living room/ diningroom. We need to add accent chairs, coffee table, console table/a built-in shelf for the tv. I took everyone's advice here and our tv will go to the opposite wall from the sectional sofa. I'm struggling with the color scheme for the decor, accent chairs, accessories, side table, etc  for the coffee table I really liked to have a nesting round, but I'm not sure if it would be too big for the space we have. Since we have a live edge dining table, it's difficult for me how to choose other furniture pieces.  ps For the dining table I bought 4 chairs and was thinking I'll include two different color chairs. I had to return one char and keep three because two chairs were not fitting on both longer sides of the table. So, I decided to get a bench for the empty side instead. I hope my explanation is clear and not vague or confusing.  Thank you in advance.
