What can you tell me about Blanco Silgranit Sinks (pics please)?
Comments (152)I commented on this thread a while back when I was trying to decide between the silgranite white or a darker color. I really wanted white because I thought it'd be prettier but I was afraid of the potential staining problems. Well I went for it and got the silgranite super single sink in white from home depot online. Even though the pictures don't show it, I bought the matching grate as well. I think the grate is a good investment as it protects both the sink and your dishes if you happen to drop them. It's been about 7 months now and I'm still so happy with my choice. I haven't had any problems with staining. I am careful with it as I would be with any item that cost me $300+ but I don't feel it's extreme. I always rinse out the sink after I use it and do at least a weekly clean with a liquid soft scrub unless I've done a lot of cooking. I have a bunch of microfiber cloths I got from Amazon that I use to wipe off any water spray on the counters' edge by the sink. I am meticulous about this because I have very hard water. Overall I love this sink. It's functional and beautiful....See MorePlease tell me pros and cons of painting cabinets
Comments (10)We are painting our old oak cabinets right now. My goal was to not have the grain show through, like nodirtthere's kitchen from this forum. Here's what we have been doing: -We removed an old cabinet when we remodeled our bathroom that was the same finish as our kitchen cabinets and used it as a test panel. Doing this has made us feel much more confident about the process that we are using and allowed me to play around with different finishes, glazes, etc. -We are using a product called MH Ready Patch to fill the grain. Use multiple thin coats, sanding in between each and you can achieve an amazingly smooth finish. No grain will show through. -Spray whenever possible! The difference between brushing on and spraying on the primer and paint is unbelievable, from the time/effort involved to the finish you can get. Check the primer that you are using-ours said it could only be used in an airless sprayer, so we had to borrow one. (The one my husband has works off of his air compressor.) -We sprayed two coats of primer, sanding in between each one, then have sprayed three coats of latex paint and will be topping it off with a satin acrylic poly for durability. -We are also taking the opportunity to add nice crown molding and light rail to the cabinets, giving them a more custom look, since everything will be painted anyway. That's where we are in the process...we are thrilled with the results so far-they are light years beyond a finish that we thought could be achieved on our own. Good luck!...See MoreCould you please tell me the pros and cons of....
Comments (7)jellytoast: I did read about that; is there any way at all to eliminate that gap? I can't change the location of the outlets now. Nan57 and ilene-84: I like the beveled look more and more as I keep comparing it to my flat sample, so it's nice to hear from both of you that you love this tile! firsthouse_mp: My thoughts, exactly! Do white beveled tiles differ a great deal in both the nature of the gloss and the beveling, in different stores? I've noticed in pictures online, that some tiles look more 'classy' than others, if that makes any sense :-)....See Morecorian integrated sink/countertops -- pros/cons
Comments (95)Hi All! I have learned sooooo much on this site. Thank you Mr. Corlett. I have had Corian countertops since 1998 with a granite composite under mount sink. Love the Corian, not the sink so much because it seems yellowed since installed. But I do a lot of canning so the sink has put up with a lot of beet juice and boiling hot water with minimal distress, no cracks. Just clean with Soft Scrub and bleach sometimes. We are now building a house. I am again using Corian for the countertops. I am considering either a Corian integrated sink 850 or an LG-HiMacs integrated sink 3118. I do not like the sink drain in the center of the sink as in the 3118 but that sink is an inch and a half longer than the Corian so better for skillet handles to fit in sink. Do you have an opinion as to the staining or cracking or other issue of either product I might consider before making my final decision? Thank you. Cynthia...See Moremayflowers
