I have the Monogram warming drawer. The panel ready one has a stainless front which can be removed and replaced with a custom panel. It's flush integrated at 25". They include a red plastic disk for the surface so the on light can shine through. I haven't installed that yet. I think I've grouped the WD in my mind with irons and coffee pots which have to be checked for being off before retiring. There isn't a "slow cooker feature" on the Monogram. The instructions specifically say to only use it for hot foods, not to warm or cook anything. Them's weasel words, however, since Wikipedia says, "Typical slow cooker is designed to heat food to 170 F (77 C) on low, to perhaps 190-200 F (88-93 C) on high." The top setting on the warming drawer is 230. The thing is whether whatever is slow cooked in it will develop an internal temperature that's safe for consumption (should do if it's in there long enough), and also whether leaving the WD on for 6-8 hours is the best use of electricity. (I have no clue!) Warming drawers are made to be run for at least three days straight by Orthodox Jews, so it should be safe from that point of view. And many Jews do use all kinds of warming devices for slow cooking Sabbath foods without killing anybody. The tray kit includes one long and two short stainless food service trays, as well as rails and cross bars from which they hang. The manual claims they're an extra cost, but they were included with mine. It probably became a bonus incentive when the downturn hit.

We've put one in our new kitchen on the "non-work" side of the island at our beverage center area. I'd assumed that I'd go with a SubZero as that's what we chose for our main fridge and I've got a huge loyalty thing going with SZ after having a trouble free fridge for over 25 years. But when we went appliance shopping, I was shocked that the SZ drawers were substantially smaller than the Kitchen Aid. The height difference in each drawer was several inches and it was enough to mean that wine bottles and our glass milk bottles couldn't be stored standing up. Since our main use is as a beverage center/bar fridge this was a deal breaker. Kitchen Aid and Jenn-Aire seem to be identical as far as I can tell other than a different color interior. The JA was about 175 more and had a shorter warranty so I chose the Kitchen-Aid. We've used it for about 2 weeks now and as a bar fridge, it works fine. I don't know how it would keep greens, produce etc. There is a pretty noticeable hum when they're cooling but nothing awful. I do wonder if the SZ would have been quieter, but still wouldn't have made a different choice. The drawers aren't self close and don't exactly "glide" so with a big load of heavy drinks you have to be sure that the drawers close all the way. Same with the freezer which is down so low. The alarm that lets you know that the drawer is ajar is VERY useful.... with 8 people in and out of the drawers almost constantly over the holiday, we heard the door ajar chime several times!

Buehl, the reason I went with drawers was remembering getting down on the floor to dig into the small dorm fridge I had in college and thinking about how much I enjoyed having to dig into base cabinets for something in the back where you can't easily see it or reach it -- the bases I couldn't wait to replace with drawers and don't miss at all. Ours are in the breakfast room -- between the kitchen and the family room as part of a hutch coffee/breakfast bar. Not a reason for the choice, but I also like that the drawers look more like furniture.

Any door that opens to the right will hit the side wall, which includes French door and SxS units. That may cause some obstruction on fully opening crisper or meat/deli drawers, depending on the design of individual models. It probably will prevent removal of the drawers (for cleaning or service) since the door(s) typically must be open to nearly 180° to facilitate removal for the drawer(s) to clear the edge of the door and/or protruding door shelves ... unless the refrigerator is pulled forward when needed so the right-side door can swing into the dining room doorway. My SxS is next to a pantry door that is set at an angle. The left-side freezer door hits the pantry door knob. The freezer baskets are just barely obstructed from pulling fully out, they run into the freezer door gasket, although it's not enough to impair functionality and the clearance is such that I can slightly pull the baskets to the right to clear the gasket if necessary. Opening the pantry door allows the freezer door to swing open enough to fully clear the gasket. Pics below. You will have more obstruction for the door swing on the right since your wall is at a 90° angle. My sister ran into the same situation at the existing house they recently bought. A Kenmore (Samsung- or LG-sourced) French door refrigerator came with the house and has a full-width crisper drawer and separate deli/meat drawer. The unit has to be pulled forward from normal position for the left-side door to open enough to remove the drawers for cleaning or service.
